I enjoyed reading this immensely. In the end, you made the characters fit together exactly how they needed to. There were several times I literally laughed aloud, and the dialog was perfect. Gojyo as a hot punk star is quite the mental image.
Seeing Gojyo as a bad-boy rock star rang so true. Hakkai with his hang-ups gradually being enticed by this sexy phenom was a fitting part for him to play. All the characters melded into a grand story. Well done.
I had a later thought, as the story kept running through my mind. Gojyo made me think of a real-life singer, Freddie Mercury of Queen. He would strut on stage, remove his shirt, and really connect with the crowd. Have only seen him on TV, but I imagine his impact on the audience must have been awesome.
Because of the length of this story I hadn't read it yet, although I read Part IV a couple of nights ago to get a sense of what it was about. Hot and sexy as usual, and you clearly like and understand music. I don't know if you play any instruments or sing, but I have to think you must. Hakkai as an agent/pianist/club owner and Gojyo as a rock star with a disreputable past fit their respective roles nicely as well as fit well together.
I liked the way you brought the rest of the ikkou and other characters into it as well along with ending it with them all together in a car, Hakkai at the wheel, Sanzo in the passenger seat, and Goku and Gojyo squabbling in the back, in addition to depicting Sanzo and Goku together (finally! and while still pissy, presumably Sanzo's not as reluctant as he used to be) and Sanzo's bad driving, which was a highlight of the end of Volume 9.
There was much love writing this although I did worry about stepping on my own toes from last year's prompt. It was a good challenge for me to try and make it different.
I have played a few instruments in my lifetime but never very well.
You succeeded in making this different from "Rules" in ways other than the different main characters. This one was far more romantic, though there is a romance of sorts in orgies and threesomes :). BTW, I read "Rules" a couple of months ago. Depraved Goku and Sanzo = brain melting.

I have to admit that seeing Gojyo as a rock star is not a stretch for me.
