question. anonymous February 24 2004, 13:35:53 UTC
Does the answer indeed lie in the opposite sex? I think not. The opposite sex merely provides comfort, and in that, often an ephemeral one...

hm..

to be honest, i'm not entirely certain what it is that you're referring to by your question, but maybe it's an interpretation of some random metaphor i've drawn up.. the personal savior one, maybe?

at any rate..

are not all of our answers ephemeral in some sense? many may claim that a god-figure is a permanent answer, but i find that we as faulted, ignorant, inconsistent, and generally "human" individuals cannot stick to such a bond with much promise.. that is not to say, however, that there are not those that have not found an answer.. many find their truth in religion..

however, many also find it in a partner in crime/life..

the point is, in the end, who's to say where one's answer lies?

perhaps i read too much into your personal savior reference.
anyhow, it's true that all our answers, for the most part are ephemeral. we are mortal. but i think, there isn't just one answer...it's dispersed among many things: unconditional love, thankfulness and faith among those things. however, i agree with your response to faith. i try not to take my faith for granted, but unfortunately it wavers.. esp. in times of hardship.
