this isn't a cheer up comment. mostly i just relate to you. my biggest upset from katrina is not that i lost half my property...it's that my boyfriend now lives in los angeles, my roommate now lives in colorado, my best friend is still in baton rouge, and other friends are still in new orleans. and i hate to complain because i have a roof over my head, and food in my mouth, and i'm doing okay...but like, i don't know anyone here (in texass). and like you said...going to bars alone isn't exactly thrilling. hell i dont even know where the bars are. i've always wanted to move away from louisiana, because i wanted better weather, better scenery, better something (but i wanted to keep the food)...but now i realize none of that matters, because i don't want different people.

so, what are your long term plans for where you are staying? texas gonna be the state for you? you could always move all your people to texas and support them with your own Cane's.

thanks for the comment. :-)

no idea. don't really wanna stay...but returning to louisiana isn't proving as easy as originally imagined. moving to los angeles would be nice for the person that i have there...but i've no interest in the city itself, or the cost of living (certainly can't afford it without a job). i might bide my time here, see what comes up. i don't expect opportunity to knock, but i can pass the time for a bit and see if it does. cane's are popping up. maybe i'll get one around the corner.

Its totally the Quarter-Life crisis. I think no matter where you are all of a sudden you're in your mid-twenties and its a shock to the system. You aren't surronded by friends, its harder to meet people, you feel all alone.
I've been, still am there from time to time, too - best I can say is - I bet a lot of us know how you feel.

misery loves company? i suppose the fact that I'm in my mid-20's isn't bad. maybe if i hit 40 and things are the same, it'll be pretty tough.

There is a great book called "Conquering the Quaterlife Crisis" that really made me feel better. Actually, it made me feel like - if everyone else is going through it - maybe its not so bad.

You could always visit me! (Too bad Fresno is a 6-hour drive away...) I also know how you feel; I went through it last year when I moved to Fresno.

countdown is ON!!!! towah79 December 22 2005, 05:10:45 UTC
countdown until kevin and company arrive in NJ is ON!!!!

Can't wait until you get here, and as far as meeting people is it unmotivated or can't find people, or a little of both?

we all here will definitely be thinking about you during the holidays. while it's not exactly a "cheer-up" comment, it can count as a rest assured you may be many miles away, but still thought of VERY often.

before you know it, you'll be in UNsunny, congested, smelly, rich in cranberry new jersey :-)
