A blonde woman with a sword caught his eye; he stared at her warily for a few moments before something clicked into place in his head. At once, his scowl melted away into a twisted, too-wide grin.
"Well, well, well. Now what have we heeeere?" he cooed, giggling to himself.

She stopped as soon as she saw him. As soon as he saw her. And for a brief second, the clown was...different. The makeup was gone, the costume replaced by far less outlandish clothing, and he'd gained some weight. She stared up at him in the doorway, wide-eyed and uncertain...
But in an instant the image was gone, and the clown was back to being a clown. They'd seen each other, and she knew this was the clown from her memories. There was an exit to the market just beyond where they'd met. There were too many civilians here to risk a confrontation. She met his gaze as he giggled to himself, and then strode past him, towards the exit.
She knew he would follow. If he was like her, he would have to.
