Selling Yourself

My father lost his job. He had it for maybe two and a half days, which was enough time for the airport to consider him and his condition a liability to the company. His condition, a diseased heart. Doctors and health insurance agents are still sorting out what and who's to blame, but I've got the answer. Them.

Most companies these days are unwilling to hire anyone whose ability to work can be compromised. Women too often have to fight for their jobs when they take pregnancy leave. Employers are disconnected from employees, who are then disconnected from customers. Because employers are disconnected from who they hire there are no social obligations for managers to make accommodations for individual workers. I witnessed this working in a restaurant.

Is there any form of freelancing or self-employment your dad would be suited for?

That man was the sharpest arrow in the Force! Corrick should put his stories (dramatized or otherwise) in a book, call it a memoir, and watch the Top 10 Bestseller lists learn who Mr. Kincaid is in a jiffy.

Cause seriously, memoirs and biographies are selling like hotcakes in today's book market, and people ought to be sick of listening to addicts by now. I already am, and I've never even read a book by one.
