Birthday week!

Nov 10, 2005 13:09

Okay. This post is long overdue. This would be my third attempt at posting it. Happy I am not, with livejournal or photobucket.

I've decided that pictures speak about as loudly as words, so I am letting them narrate the story alongside my minimal comments for the Windsor weekend.

As usual, I was greeted on my birthday (at midnight) by Asha, while I was on the phone with Kevin. He was a little miffed about that, but hey - you can't win them all. He proceeded to gush about how it was my birthday week, meaning I get to be treated like a king for an entire week instead of a day. I took to that idea like a fish to water. Immediately after, my brother and my mom tried to scare me by telling me that I am now an adult and had to start acting like one. I replied by sticking my tongue out at them. My brother also tried to record my last words as a teenager and my first impression of being 20.

My last words were "Hey Kev, hold on for a sec. Someone's on the other line."
My impression of being 20? ...tastes kinda like chicken.

In either case, in the morning I decided that I was finally going to get my hair done right. I went to one of those frou-frou saloons that overcharge you for merely breathing inside their store. I had my hair colored by someone who had won the colorist of the year award for 2004 in Canada and had someone who won the style awards for hair styling in 2004 cut it. Mostly the award winning stylist (darn it I forget his name) trimmed my hair, and told me things along the lines of "You need to grow out your hair. The look you need requires it so. The look of lengthy hair on the top and having short side hair is SO last year!" and then charged me $35 for styling my hair the way I normally would anyway. Well not exactly - some minor changes are evident. But none that anyone aside from me would notice. The picture for my new hairdo is here.

Later on, it was decided that the evening's festivities would include German rock, monopoly and a gathering of friends. Mostly I was able to get a hold of Sean, Greg, Kevin and Vega. And an awesome time it was! (Yes, I know - we are so cool!)

The next day, my Dad came home from the hospital which pretty much topped any birthday gift I've ever received. But I'd have to say, everyone's starting to get better at shopping for me.

The girls (Vega, Mitul and Mandy - oh lovable Mandy!) bought me an awesome Sex and the City trivia game. Fellow SATC fans, I challenge you to a duel of SATC knowledge!

Greg and Sean bought me a gift certificate for chapters - I received "Color of Magic" by Terry Pratchett and "Sorceress of Darshiva" by David Eddings from them. I have also received the first four books of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (completing that series finally), and "Wicked: the life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West". I'd have to say that it is one of the darkest books I have in my collection right now, and I love it. The musical that has been inspired by it is the Disney equivalent of the story, but I still love the songs. One of these days, I'm going to go and find the CD for that musical. But I digress. I drooled at the prospect of being able to go book shopping. It is an actual rule between Greg, Sean and I that my wallet be removed from my self whenever we are anywhere near the vicinity of a book store, so that I do not get tempted.

Kevin's gift was cute as well. He got me an alarm clock because I am always late whenever I go off to meet him. He also bought me two picture frames with pictures of himself (one with him and my friend, and one with him and me) - I had to put the picture of him and me in my private collection because my brother kept objecting to the possibility that it might be seen by the parents. He also bought me the latest CD from Enigma and so far, I love it. And to top it all of, he also presented me with Mr. Bear - his teddy bear from when he was 4 years old. He wanted me to have it, but I talked him into letting Mr. Bear stay in his house. It rather touched me, how much thought everyone had put into their gifts. I love you guys!

Here are some of the pics for that day:

Forwarding to the Windsor trip, we left at 1 on Friday afternoon. Here onwards, I'm letting the pictures speak for themselves.

Awwe! Bed head!

A bleary group heads out.

Goodbye Mac Hall!

For lack of a breakfast, Vega decided to much on Sean's ear.

Sean shows off his nail polish.

What on earth are we doing on the side of a random highway?

For a lack of explanation, we pose.

AHHHH! THE SKY IS FALLING!! I mean... A TRUCK IS COMING!

Gasp! Adnan and Adam are getting cozy! Must report to Mitul!

The reaction Adam had when we told him that he had to go home. The weekend was over.

Kevin trying his best to look cute. And it worked so well. *melts*

For lack of entertainment, Greg decided to amuse himself.

Unfortunately, the only fatality on this trip was Miranda's cereal box. RIP.

That's about it. For the rest of the pics from that weekends, click here.
