Another Opinion: Religion

Well, I figured I would post another one of my opinions that I don't share that often.  I'm really too lazy to delete any of my topics, so I'll just leave it for all to see.  This journal entry relates to religion.

For starters, I'm not as religious as I was a few years ago.  The last time I went to church, it was almost three years ago.  Beyond

I'm antheist, so I understand what you are saying about your feelings on Islam. I don't hate the religion, and I respect what people want to believe, but I DO hate what people do for the sake of religion--any religion. Look at the Christians and what they've done throughout history for the sake of "God." It's my opinion that religion is too often used as an excuse to do horrible things, and it disgusts me.

That is a very good point, Erin. In the past who knows how many years (my guess would be over a thousand), it seems like people are willing to die and take as many people with them for their religious beliefs (Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.).

Personally, those who want to kill in the name of their religion are wrong. If they stick to the true core roots of their religion (and I'm pretty sure no religion states that it's justified to kill people in the name of their religion, but then again, I could be wrong, because I don't study religion), then there wouldn't be any problems at all.

However, and most unfortunately, such a fantasy world doesn't exist.
