Once Upon a Time, I Used to Update

Jan 29, 2010 04:45

This is an incredibly long entry, so I'm going to use a LiveJournal cut for the first time.

Well, it has been over five months since I posted a real update to my journals, but since I can't sleep at the moment (I went to bed really early last night), I figured I would take the time to post an update on what's been going on with me the past few months.  For starters, Kaitlynn and I are still together.  We've had some ups and downs regarding our relationship, but we've been going out for a year and three months and still going strong.

One of my biggest problems with our relationship that I've had to overcome is not communicating certain things with her.  During the first year we went out, we would usually eat out at restaurants very frequently.  The reason for that is because she is a pescetarian (also called a pesco-vegetarian).  Partly due to choice and another part for health reasons, she only eats fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, dairy, grains, eggs, and seafood.  Since I've never dated pesco-vegetarian before, it was pretty difficult to find places to eat, so we would mostly go to places such as Fish Daddy's, IHOP, various sushi restaurants, and other places.  In addition, we would go to movies and other places such as Fun House pretty frequently.

However, all of those things mentioned above costs money.  Since I still pay for school out-of-pocket, I still have a credit card bill (mostly due to paying for some of my tuition on my credit card), my car loan, and other various bills (including my cell phone bill), I ended up becoming very broke.  Anyway, she was not happy about the fact that I kept that from her, because she felt I should have been more honest about my finances, and I should have been communicating with her more about everything.  For the most part, I mostly communicated things that were good instead of things that would be bothering me.

Well, the two of us ended up having a long talk about things.  For the most part, I have a few issues about being rejected, thus trying very hard in my relationship.  In addition, after a bit of psychoanalysis, I also determined that I have a deep fear of being left alone.  After high school, a lot of my friends ended up moving from the area, getting married, or both, so I would frequently find myself on the Internet.  Of course, the same thing occurred after I left the University of Oklahoma.  The biggest thing that caused my deep fear of being left alone is when my dad passed away a few years ago.  Since I've known my dad my whole life, it hit me incredibly hard when someone I known and loved passed away.

Anyway, after talking about things, the two of us have, not only fixed many problems with the two of us, but become much stronger as a couple as well.  To save some money, we don't eat out as frequently as we did our first year, and when we do eat out, it's usually at fast food restaurants, such as Sonic: Drive-In or Taco Bell.  Also, since we've been spending more time at my mom's house, we've had more time to cuddle as well.  Not only that, we've been spending some time watching Food Network (my girlfriend's really interested in cooking and baking).

Well, although my finances have improved since eating in more often (or eating much cheaper) and not going out as frequently, I ended up having to borrow some money from my mom to help with bills.  It wasn't my finest moment, because since I live in her house rent free while I'm attending college, I don't like having to ask her for money.  However, I would not have been able to finish paying for the Fall 2009 Semester otherwise.

During the Fall 2009 Semester, I went to Tulsa Community College to finish my Associate of Applied Science in Web Design while taking a class at Langston University-Tulsa.  The class that I needed to finish my degree was no longer being offered, but I was able to take a class to substitute for the class that was no longer offered.  In the end, on December 11, 2009, I was awarded my Associate of Applied Science in Web Design.

As for my Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, I have the following classes left to take before I've completed my degree:

AC 2103 - Principles of Accounting I
AC 2203 - Principles of Accounting II
BA 3623 - Business Communication
BA 3633 - Business Law I
FN 3313 - Financial Management
MG 3703 - Principles of Management
MG 3763 - Marketing
MG 4703 - Business Policy
IS 3513 - Introduction to Business Computing
IS Elective
CS Elective
CS 4993 - Internship

Since Langston-Tulsa does not offer AC 2103 nor AC 2203, I have to take the equivalent of those classes at Tulsa Community College and transfer those credits to Langston-Tulsa.  For the Spring 2010 Semester, I'm taking the following classes:

ACCT 1003 - Introduction to Accounting (Tulsa Community College)
MG 3703 - Principles of Management (Langston University-Tulsa)

One thing I've learned from my adviser at Langston-Tulsa is I would be responsible for finding a place to intern at when I finally begin CS 4993 - Internship.  Since I've been at Langston-Tulsa, I was under the assumption that the school would assign me to a place to intern, but I will have to locate a company on my own.  I'll ultimately have to cut back on my hours at Wal-Mart when I do my internship, but unfortunately, most interns don't get paid.  It'll be interesting to find out how to fund classes at that point, but I'm going to try and do my internship during my last full semester at Langston-Tulsa.

In the meantime, I'm currently working on plans to get my personal Website re-launched, and I'm also working on trying to find a job as a Web designer.

To save some money, I ended up switching cell phone carriers from AT&T to Sprint.  However, while the rate plans for Sprint are cheaper than AT&T, I'm still paying around the same amount when I had AT&T (mostly due to the unlimited data plan and a 20% discount I get for working at Wal-Mart).  On the bright side, had I acquired a data plan while I was with AT&T, my cell phone bill would be much higher as a result.

Well, I can't really think of anything more to add to my journals, so I'm going to call it a day.  However, I will be posting again very soon, and I'll try not to wait five months this time.

Ciao for now!
