IIII think you should think of going back home as recharging and reflection time. Also time to let everyone who loves you over here smother you with affection!
Of course, I'm biased, I can't wait for you to move close-by!
It's never easy... something about the airport goodbye scene makes it that much more powerful, maybe because there is probably someone else in your immeadiate vincinity that is dealing with a similar situation. It will hurt, sting and burn for a while, and then when it subsides and you have no more emotional resources, you'll long for the stinging/hurting/burning again. The future is like highly concentrated uncertainty syrup... you just have to decide how sweet you want your Kool-Aid.
The next year or so, however long it takes you to finish your degree will be a prolonged moment of decisions, whether they're permanent or fleeting. When that milestone finishes, perhaps what you want so much to hold on to right now will be in your hands again.
I can be totally selfish though and say I'm ridiculously excited you're coming back.
