And the Hewlett Packard AMD Machine loses by a knock-out in the first round.

Apparently, this is old news, but my chronic refusal to patch my machines saved me a lot of trouble - for about a year.

Anyway, the short version is that Windows SP3 causes an HP Pavilion running an AMD processor to go into an infinite reboot loop. This is what was killing ( Read more... )

Sounds like you should follow the advice I gave you last night:
get a new gaming rig, and slap linux on this sucker. :p

In another year or two, I think. I actually have an old lap-top with a non-working screen (the LCD back-light doesn't light up anymore. Probably a loose cable or something.) on it I was wanting to install lLinux on, just to experiment.

To be fair, it's not entirely Microsoft's fault. HP shouldn't have used an image from an Intel machine to build AMD machines. :P
