I Hate Myself

May 17, 2008 00:00

I hated my first day at Target, they had me work the register, so I could learn how. I spent a while at a closed register training/practicing all alone-they give you a book with different fake checks, and credit cards etc and have you practice everything. Then I spent about 20 min watching one of the people, then we traded places, quite quickly I ( Read more... )

Sorry things aren't going well. :(

Also, didn't mean to just disappear yesterday-had to shut down my laptop and move away from the internet cause our resident crazypants had to come sit in the office, so I had to basically sit in a closet while filing. Sorrys!

YOU'RE NOT STUPID.

The way things looked at the time, it seemed like Target was a good choice, because you weren't sure if the Humane Society would ever call, right? So you took the opportunity that looked like the best option. That makes you a pragmatist, not stupid. It's really bad luck and sucks monkeys that they happened to call right after.

And you know you're not going to get stuck at Target, Something else will come along, a job where you can be happier, and you can go to Target and say "Peace out, home skillet" to the manager.

but I should have just said yes and quit Target FUCK that dead end job. Taking it would have gotten me IN, would have at least put me on the list of possibly becoming full time with them. Thanks, but I don't think anybody is going to be able to convince me that I didn't make the biggest mistake ever and completely fuck myself over.

There are always going to be other opportunities. The thing is, if you want to work with animals so badly (and obviously you do), then you just flat out refuse to let Target keep you from going after what you really want. Just because you have a job doesn't mean you can't keep applying for openings or meeting with potential employers about opportunities to do what you really want. Make plans, keep at it, meanwhile you actually have some money to do things, you have a way to get out of the house and away from your parents (who by the way, despite the fact that they are helping you out, you need to also take with a grain of salt sometimes. Parents, and I can attest to this, don't always understand how we feel and what we want. They look at what's needed and don't pay attention to the rest (which may be why so many people our parents' age are stuck in jobs they hate rather than going after what they really want). At the same time, sometimes they have good points and you just have to sort one from the other ( ... )
