am having a stressful morning, but oh, seeing mr craig's baby blues has me sporting a stupid smile in this place of which I am a member. :D
I saw a picture of his fiancee/girlfriend though--um...it's proof that he's not attracted to gorgeous hollywood starlets or models :D
And a lot of Bond fans (AKA some of my friends) will argue that the gimmicky gadgets, buxom bond babes and cheddar villians are part of the franchise and hence (*ding ding*) part of the enjoyment. I guess. It's been debated forever. But, as someone who is NOT a fan (but who thinks Pierce Brosnan was quite distracting), this is totally exciting news! A Bond film with pathos (double ding ding)!
I'll be commenting again once I've watched the film :D

Aha! I KNEW you were finally going to update your blog after the Bond movie, Kiloran! ;) Inaabangan ko yan, hehe.
Kill me now but I have to admit that at first, I was disappointed that sullen but sexy Clive Owen did not get the role. But carry lang, for me Clive will forever live in my mind as the Bond-like dude in those BMW short films!
I so enjoyed watching Bond with you, Kiloran. Am ashamed to say that I had serious doubts about the movie beforehand, since my last Casino Royale viewing was of that 1960s lemon with David Niven and Peter Sellers in it--a waste of good film stock if you ask me! :) But with Daniel Craig...oooh Daniel Craig...ay may movie pala! Hehehe ;)

Tobermory!
I think the producers knew early on they wanted a "gritty" Bond outing, so they got the Craigster. I also think that once Clive declined/was dropped/noncommittal, it firmed up their plans.
To be honest, I didn't want either Clive OR Daniel for James Bond. Like I said, I didn't care about 007 so I thought both actors would be too good to take on such a gig. It'll ruin their legit careers! (Or so I thought.)
Since Clive's career was progressing very nicely and getting more established, Daniel landing the role, for me, was all about getting him known more by the public and a chance to see how what a kick ass actor he is. And this role? Lets him kick ass! Acting-wise, tough-wise, romantic-wise, pretty ass-wise…
Heh, leave it to me to answer your gushy comment with an academic response!
(goes off to think of Daniel Craig with hot, T-shirt wearing self)
Re: Craig cravingshungryalienNovember 21 2006, 19:58:28 UTC
i grew up with roger moore as bond.. so he was my "standard" of bond-ness.. parang kasi bond of those days are very suave.. gun on one hand, boobies on the other. while doing the impossibles with unbelievable gadgets.
pero i think daniel is the kind of bond who would really hurt you bad by just looking at him. unlike sean, roger and pierce.. mas bad boy si daniel. unlike the all out gentleman-but-i-can-still-kill of the other bonds.
by the way they are casting.. baka we might see the next bond in black? will smith anyone? hehehe
Re: Craig cravingsdetails_laterNovember 22 2006, 15:44:43 UTC
Yeah, Will Smith can be that Bond with the boobies, gadgets and guns. ;-)
Diddy has also expressed wanting to be first black Bond. (No thanks!)
Funny how the Bond movies of the last 40 years built a "cinematic" vision of Bond that's not quite the "literary" (ie., book) vision. It caused so much trouble when they dropped Pierce the Benign for Daniel the "short, blond and ugly." Buti na lang Daniel Craig proved himself in the role big time!
Also, I agree with everything you said. The pathos (dinging like there's no tommorow), the fighting to actually survive, the vulnerability AND the unwavering confidence and the sheer enjoyability of it all adds up to actually one of the best movies of 2006. Better than The Departed! Hahaha!

I like what Arel said: "the new dude's been the Bond that we never thought we wanted." Sums it up for the for the Craig naysayers turned converts!
And really? That's what the Bond fans have been enjoying over the last 20 Bond movies? Then I have NOT MISSED A THING. Ha ha.

Why am I so serious? I blame Diddy...

Finally get to visit your blog again. Again, am bummed that I didn't think up this so-cool blog name. =(
Haaaay. You should talk to my officemates. They don't get the appeal of DC at all -- a.k.a. his rough n' tumble, feral quality.
Hope you can make it to dinner on the 30th!

I thought hard what to name this blog. It's part of the reason why I hesitated forever, along with the arm twisting!
I'm happy I figured it out though!
The 30th is our office Christmas party. Ain't that swell!????!
So your officemates: How will they know what DC's appeal is like of they don't watch the movie? Or did they? And they still weren't convinced???
Pretty much like ignoring gravity if they didn't feel his appeal! (It rhymes! Mwahaha)
