I admit that I hated this at first.  But the quiet is relaxing.  It's helping me think.  Better focus, better memory. An excuse to practice some meditative exercises and catch up on things.

Although I could do without remembering that the night before I woke up with Simca, I left the club with a different girl.  Who was she ( Read more... )

A game of chess is always welcome. I assume you mean regular chess, when and where would you like?

Until a few hours ago I didn't know the ... breadth of options... available when it comes to chess games. But yeah, at least until my ribs and my dignity have recovered a little, regular chess it is.

When is Claire usually out?[Message discarded unsent].

Late afternoon or early evening would probably be best; I do have my two jobs to balance, after all. I can come over to Nacosto Court; unless you'd like the excuse to get out of the house.

Sounds good to me. I admit, it would be nice to get out of the house.

There's outdoor chess in Central Park, or if you'd rather, they've got a board on one of the tables in New World Soda.

While I appreciate your efforts to assist in what is a largely unsuccessful manhunt, I've been informed that case information is classified. Someone in an official capacity within the police department could be put at considerable risk by sharing those details with the public. However, as the officers are quick to remind me that my assistance is largely temporary and more akin to a private contractor than detective, I doubt I'd be breaking any ethics codes by comparing notes alongside you.

I can't exactly share my sources or methodology with the department either, so I understand. A little discretion between the two of us could hopefully make for a big jump in case closure for the department, but you can't expect a bureaucracy to recognize that. Or at least, you can't get them to admit it. Are there any side projects or investigations you've got going at the moment that I could assist with?

Any additional information you have on the Evenson case would be a great help to my work. There's very little cooperation between law enforcement and church authorities in this city, so information garnered from unorthodox measures- whilst inadmissible in court- may facilitate a better understanding of the events that transpired.

Unfortunately I'm dead-ended on that case myself. I've put in inquiries at MDEA Intel about it, but evidently my clearance isn't high enough, or they just don't find it relevant to a data systems analyst and chemist-intern. My usual methods haven't gotten through the veil of religious secrecy either.

I'm always interested.

Does this mean you won't try and do the cute raspy voice thing?

I'm telling you, that voice can be an invaluable tool. Batman could use it to stop fights before they started. I just... don't have that much practice with it yet.

But for now, I'll have to stick with ominous silence.

I hate not being able to talk. Do the meditative things help out?

At least if you're as confused as I am[Message discarded unsent].

They help some. Just... not as much as I'd like.

I need some kind of distraction, I'm about to go crazy. Care to guide me in meditation?

I don't know how good a teacher I'll be, especially since I can't talk you through it, but I can give it a try.

Hopefully not overthinking.

Pretty much, yeah. Something wrong?

I'm trying to remember who I left the club with. I, uh, know who I wound up with the next day, but there was someone else there that night, and until I had the quiet to think in I didn't even remember that. A... blonde girl, maybe?

[txtmsg] evocations September 9 2010, 03:51:51 UTC
Mm, yeah. Now that you mention it, there was a girl with you most of the night. She said she was a reporter, looking for some "big scoop".

Thanks. No way I could find one blonde girl in all of Desai, but one blonde reporter is another story.

Huh. Hopefully, I didn't give her the story she was hunting for.
