this is a pretty theological post, so read only if you really, really want to.

have i mentioned that the UMC voted for full communion with the ELCA in April?

but damn, we're different enough. It just makes it a lot easier for, say, pulpit supply.

Also, I patently disagree with your "only baptized people should be able to receive communion" point. Give me a few days to get back to you as to why, exactly, i feel such a gut-wrenching opposition.

Pulpit supply, I think, is a poor reason for full communion if that's about it. Full communion means transferring membership is much easier, but does that accompany the usual instruction in the fundamentals of, say, Methodism? I wouldn't know the second thing about being a Methodist (well, theologically. I'm sure that having a huge book crush on the Hymnal would be the first thing, right ( ... )

Offense? Non taken, of course! I'm a theologian, so this stuff is extraordinarily important to me but I don't get offended about it too easily. And I don't stone people. Fraternities do that. Yes, bad attempt at humor ( ... )
