Oh didn't I say? I have alien larvae in my stomach. It's a whole thing me and the Admiral have going on where I do my job here, then he takes them out for me, then my stomach doesn't burst and I don't die. So you get the pleasure of my company basically until somebody graduates or something hatches!

And you're not seeing a representative sample of them on the Barge. Tyr's a special case, and Rhade predates your contemporary Nietzchean by circa 300 years, although the gene for backstabbing was apparently going strong back then.

You may still remember the last time you were here. 'Barge amnesia' is a recognised phenomenon here; sometimes it goes away, sometimes not.
