Saw this over
here and felt the need to finally essay on how Akito relates to other people. UH. SPOILERS and by spoilers I mean if you don't know the big Akito one and who Ren is, maybe you should move on lalala.
Name - Direction - Name - Relationship / Feeling
Akito -> Isuzu - Hatred/disgust
Akito -> Shigure - Love/Hate
Akito -> Kureno - Attachment / Clings to
Akito -> Tohru - Hatred/disgust
WHICH IS ABOUT WHAT I THOUGHT although man, I wish there was info on how she felt about the other Jyuunishi. But basically, the way I'm playing it is this -- Akito's always been kind of weird about the Jyuunishi, but she didn't get really bad until after Kureno's curse was lifted, which was ... roughly ten years ago or so? I need to check the timeline. I think it lines up, though; Yuki was never horribly abused until that point. I mean, yeah, lol stop coughing u retard, but it wasn't outright nasty until ten or so years ago.
The bond is the most important thing to Akito. She acts to keep the Jyuunishi close and to keep those that might get close and take them from her away. ... Well, most of them. I honestly don't think Akito holds all the Jyuunishi in the same light. But in this weird way, I guess she binds Rin by fear? Even though it explicitly states that Akito hates her. It's the same with Kisa, IMHO. Kagura, Ritsu, and Ayame seem to all fall in this "take or leave" kind of category. Akito's not insanely possessive over them, but at the same time, I think she would take issue if -- you know, something happened there.
Which brings me to the violence. Akito lashes out anytime she feels her power waning. Sometimes, it's verbal, sometimes, it's physical, and most of the time, it's aimed directly at the Jyuunishi. It's ... pretty much a way for Akito to maintain her power and cement her role, although I doubt she thinks of it as being much more than "bitch gtfo *VASE*".
... this is horribly incoherent. ANYWAY, Akito on the Jyuunishi.
Ayame - As I said above, in this ... "take or leave" category. She doesn't mind that he doesn't live in the main house, but god help anyone that tries to get with him, if Akito finds out. She's indifferent towards him.
Hatori - ... a-ahahaha. Hatori isn't her favorite like Kureno, but I think Akito does care a great deal for him in her own way. He's the family doctor, he takes care of her, and more importantly, it's shown that he steps in and ... pretty much calms her down and comforts her when Ren gets her going. To some extent, Akito appreciates that but using the word "appreciate" in a quasi-essay on Akito is weird -- you know what I mean. She's. Possessive of him, needless to say. There was the whole thing with "lol let me bash your eye in and talk like it's nothing and make your fiancee depressed o go erase some memories for me," but Akito doesn't really think about it like that. Much. Hatori exists to take care of me, guys, there's nothing wrong with that. ):
Shigure - This one is. I. I don't even know where to begin, other than to say that the chart above pretty much nails it. Shigure is ... I think that, had Kureno not been released from the curse, things may have gone differently. Somewhat. Akito probably wouldn't have latched onto him as much and then wouldn't have pushed away Shigure as much as she had. All of that aside, Akito feels horribly betrayed by Shigure, and that contempt she holds is hard to put aside for civil conversation. She's much more irritable when speaking with Shigure -- she'll opt for clipped sentences, or even just ellipses. I think that, deep down, Akito wants Shigure to want her. If that makes sense ...? But because she feels he betrayed her, she won't seek it out. And whatnot.
Rin - lol rin. g-god. I have to wonder sometimes if Akito is capable of actually hating any of the Jyuunishi. On one hand, she views them as having been born to serve her and they need to fufill their roles, but on the other hand, bond. ): I do think Rin is Akito's least favorite of the twelve, not counting Kyou. Akito has that whole misogyny problem as is, but also, she feels that Rin is undermining her power by stealing Haru's affection. That is, Rin is going against what her role is. damnit, horse. D<
Ritsu - SAME CATEGORY AS AYAME. Seriously, canon does ... not give us much on Akito and certain members of the Jyuunishi. Ritsu and Kagura fall into this category. I assume that Akito tolerates Ritsu because he's a member of the Jyuunishi, but he's not high on her list or anything. Uh.
Hatsuharu - Akito likes Hatsuharu. To some extent, anyway! However, there's a scene in volume 11 where she basically drapes all over him and insults his intelligence, and it's implied that she does this a lot. ... I can't remember if it's ever outright said, but I'm assuming that Akito kept up the whole line of "big dumb ox" and whatnot. And ... there's actually more, but that treds into later chapters past where I pulled Akito from, and may or may not necessarily apply. I need to think about that.
Yuki - Possession! ... well, no, seriously, that's how Akito views Yuki. The rat is hers because of the old story, and there's no way anyone will take him from her. He just needs to come around and realize that he belongs to her and only her ... is the viewpoint my Akito has, anyway. Part of this is to back off of Yuki and keep him playable for
traplikerat, but it's also linked with the whole deal Akito has going with Ren, to prove that the bond is there. What better than to prove it with the one who is supposed to be closest to God? Akito loves Yuki, and by loves, I mean wants to own, possess, etc etc. Although I did pull Akito from after chapter 95, so there's a bit of anxiety in her regarding Yuki, given that he gave her a similar look Kureno did after he was freed from the curse.
Kyou - a-ahahaha oh jesus. Akito hates Kyou on principle. She thinks he's filthy, disgusting, and wouldn't think twice about verbally abusing him and throwing things at him and then reprimanding him if he tried to talk back. Kyou is the cat, and therefore, is the outcast of the Jyuunishi, and Akito fully plans on locking him up when all's said and done. It's just How Things Are and ew nasty cat. ):
Not even touching on Hiro, Kisa, Kagura, Kureno, or Momiji for now. As for Roxas ... Akito could go either way. On one hand, he's male, no threat to the bond, and actually wants to be a part of the family. On the other hand, Akito does view it as Roxas sticking his head into something he can never really belong to. But Shigure made a good point about first impressions, so Akito will most likely accept Roxas in so she can use him in the future. yeah right.
Tohru - ... is the difficult one. I found myself having to drop her thread because I really had to think of how Akito would react to Tohru. To put it simply, Akito does not like Tohru at all. In the Tokyopop translation (which I'm using for Akito's voice), she refers to Tohru as "the gorgon." I think she even calls her a bitch to her face...? The scanlations said "commoner" there, but whatever. The bottom line is that Akito does not like Tohru, views her as a nuisance and a thorn in her side. She can't get rid of Tohru because of the bet she has going with Ren, but she does what she can to deter Tohru, such as making all the Jyuunishi visit her and leaving Tohru alone with Kyou, the creepy school visit, New Years, etc. The only time Akito is ever up front about hating Tohru is their confrontation at the summer home, when Tohru finds out that Akito is the Jyuunishi's God.
I'm playing it as a passive sort of hate. Akito despises Tohru currently, but knows better than to be forward with her distaste for the girl, especially in a place like camp.
The last thing is how Akito relates to others. The fact is, she doesn't. We rarely see her outside of the main house; once for the school visit, the summerhome visit, and one time later on, in the 100s (as well as her confrontation with Tohru in 121). Akito stays inside for the most part and doesn't deal with people. Which ... makes judging how Akito would relate to others hard. Anime says Akito's pretty subtle, but. I'm not going by the anime.
Akito, for all intents and purposes, wouldn't really care much about the outside world, since the most important thing to her is the bond between the Jyuunishi and God, as well as her duties as the family head, which I'm assuming she mostly completes inside the house? Something like that.
So ... the way I'm playing it is that Akito will probably type roughly 90% of her comments. Anything she may take a passing interest in, she'll comment to typed. Unless I say otherwise, her comments are most likely typed (this is excluding the Jyuunishi, of course). I'll try to remember to mark this, heh.
ANY QUESTIONS please ask. D:
