I have just finished reading a book that has made me think about myself and my life more than anything I can recall. This book managed to put in words all of the things I have felt during my life but haven't been able to really recognize until now. The book is Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand. Okay, so I could agree with that synopsis.
But this is also the book that singlehandedly created the present-day Kyle. So take it with a grain of salt.

Right, but the whole point is egoism vs. altruism. I have always claimed to be an egoist. But yes, good point. Although, the more I think about it, the more I am a Republican trapped in a Democrat's intuitions.

Current Republicans are just as far away from Objectivism as Dems. If you want to embody Rand's philosophy (she calls it objectivism, though Chernichevsky called it Rational Egoism long before her, and Adam Smith called it Enlightened Self-Interest even before that; Rand had nary an original philosophical thought in her head), the closest thing is Libertarian.

Yeah, I agree that neither Dems or Reps are celebrators of Objectivism. But then again, Reps are more likely to be egoists than Dems (who love to be altruists) and that's really all I was saying with that. I've read her other philosophy before her fictions, and wasn't a fan. I don't like her whole lifeboat thought experiment. I think it's bologna.
