According to CNN this afternoon, apparently Stingrays are now Al Qaeda suspects after they viciously killed beloved Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. He was pierced through the heart after a sneak attack and was killed instantly ( Read more... )

OK THAT'S funny! There are two threads on metaquotes LJ comm that are quite amusing. Both are joking, but not in a mean spirited way. One has a great link to a pic of what Steve might be doing now.

Hey! I'm not kidding with the way CNN covered the story this morning. They had a bazillion wildlife experts and their redneck gator wrestling brothers on trying to WARN people on just how dangerous, vicious and brutal stingrays can be.

But the reason they had a bazillion wildlife experts on is because every one of them were calm, collected, patiently explaining that stingrays weren't violent unless startled or provoked (actually under normal circumstances, they are quite gentle and friendly...I've even touched one)....and that what happened was a freak accident because up until then, they'd never heard of a person being killed from a stingray barb.

So....being so uninteresting and no frightening people out of the water enough, they'd move onto someone else to try and get something sensational.

They were even playing the scary music each time stock footage of stingrays was on screen.
