Hello...

I haven't posted in a long time. This is because I'm not sure what to post. I try and keep in touch with many of my friends, and keeping this up has seemed somewhat superfluous as of late. I'm not thinking of deleting the account, as I still use some features (madisonwi community, for example), but I'm not sure if I will keep this up. Your input is

I'd love to hear what's going on in your life! I don't really use Facebook so LJ is my primary way of keeping in touch.

Where are you nowadays, anyway? We should do coffee or something next time you're in the area.

It isn't necessary to post to LJ on any regular basis for it to be useful. I can think of people who let half a year go between posts, but when they surface, they send out a "ping" to everyone who knows them, so we know they're still around and okay.

It'd be great if we could keep track of every single human being we like, but it's not possible, so at least the occasional "ping" helps.

Plus, sometimes LJ can be a hook where people from your past can find you - there's at least two people on my FList who were on my "I'll probably never know how their life worked out", one of whom I found thru a mutual acquaintance's flist, one of whom found me.

My thoughts: Keep the LJ, dump any feeling of guilt over not updating it. Apply as needed.

The quarterly one-liner is still useful. techgrrl November 23 2008, 17:55:36 UTC
Post as much or as little as you want. Some folks try to post insightful stuff about what is going on to build community. That's cool. Others post a few times a year about the mundane in their lives, so folks that care can see what is happening, stuff like a new job, a new partner or a fun vacation. That can be great for those of us interested in what old friends are doing.

Like RK said, keep the LJ, dump the guilt and post as much or as little as you want.
