The candles are lit, flowers all arranged (both in vases and rose petals, red and white, scattered in a way that strives to be artistic), wine is chilling, dessert in the fridge, dinner is prepared.

Why she'd been invited over that evening, she had no idea. But it was nice, just being that, because it wasn't a properly planned date. He had called and asked her over, and despite having casual plans with her friends, she'd decided to cancel them so she could come spend time with her lover.

She was dressed nicely, as always, but a bit more casual than most times as it was the summer and it was far too hot to wear too many layers - she wasn't even wearing stockings, leaving her to show off the slight tan they had received after the day spent at the beach just a few before.

She rang the bell, still shy about just walking in, and waited for him to answer while sucking on her lower lip.

Right. Here goes nothing.

He opens the door with a smile, giving her a kiss before pulling her inside. "I'm glad you could make it. I wanted to do something special for you. Just because. How are you? You look gorgeous."

He's rambling, a little, out of nervousness, and hopes she doesn't notice.

And that makes her laugh, or giggle, really, as she falls into his arms as he pulls her inside. She kisses him again, harder once they are inside, before pulling back to let him ramble, though that makes her raise an eyebrow. "Are you okay, Jean?" She's grinning though, and squeezes his arm. "I'm wondering if you're on drugs, but yes, I'm very good. How are you?"

"I am not on drugs. Promise." Another kiss, and he leads her to the table, pulling the chair out for her.

"Et voila. What do you think? Do you like it?" He gestures to everything -- the candles, the flowers, etcetera, hoping it's not too much.
