Honestly, he's a bit worried about his brother meeting Gabriella. After his disagreement with Ben -- well he won't think about that right now. Instead, he'll occupy himself in the kitchen, cooking up a storm for dinner. He leans down to give Gamin a scratch between the ears, happy to have his dog back with him, for however long his brother happens ( Read more... )

Emile, for his part, has made himself comfortable at the dinner table. Coming to visit his brother had been a fairly impulsive decision (fortunately his wife hadn't minded), but he didn't regret it yet. As for meeting the girl that, as of recently, his brother had been going on and on about, he was fairly excited. The prospect of having a new member in the family (early though it was to start thinking that way) was a happy thought.

Gabriella, on the other hand, was worried sick about this, and had spent over an hour picking out the right thing to wear. She wanted to look nice, to impress him, he was his brother after all, and she had to make a good impression on him. But she was nervous. More nervous about this than anything else she'd ever had to do.

With a pie, the nutmeg-maple one, in hand, she knocked on the door, chewing on her bottom lip as she waited for someone to answer.

Jean waves a hand at Emile as he passes him on the way to the door, "Repose-toi, je m'en vais." Gamin yaps and scratches at the door, and Jean shoos him out of the way before opening it to let Gabriella in.

"Quick, before the dog escapes!" he laughs, kissing her cheek and closing the door. "You look lovely, my dear. You didn't have to bring anything, but it smells delicious. Come meet Emile."

Trying to settle the butterflies in his stomach, he leads Gabriella over to the table where Emile is sitting. He wraps an arm around her waist and kisses the corner of her mouth, looking quite pleased. "Emile, this is my lovely Gabriella. Gabriella, this is my brother, Emile. Soit gentil, Emile, ouais?"

Translations: "Don't get up, I've got it."
"Be nice, Emile, okay?"

"Ouais, ouais, absolument," Emile responds, waving a hand in a dismissive gesture at his little brother. Standing, he straightens his jacket before offering Gabriella his hand, broad smile already on his features. (One of the first thoughts that strikes him is that she's young, at least in comparison to Jean. Still, his smile is perfectly sincere."

"Emile Azoulay. It's a pleasure to meet you. I don't know how you stand this idiot."
