What's that, Creation? You want an offering of human flesh?

Jun 03, 2009 13:57

Okay, look. Here's the fucking thing.

As most of you know, Creation Con is finally offering set visits (and on a lesser note, exterior location tours) at their Vancouver convention in August. I signed up immediately for this con (my first out of state con) hoping they would do this. But this shit is $349OH, OKAY, CREATION. HERE, HAVE MY ARMS AND ( Read more... )

It is pretty redonkulous that they've charged so much for this, but the sad thing is, they know people will pay it, so they'll charge that much anyway. Sighs.

I know, right? It's actually kind of sad the money these fangirls have to throw around on shit. (For example, the auctions, omg.) I know Creation probably didn't even hesitate to charge this much. Would you pay for it? What would you do?

DUDE those people dropping like, $600 for an oversized signed poster had me almost passing out.

Honestly? If I had a lot of money lying around, hell yes I would pay for it, even though it's absolutely ridiculous they're charging that much. I would LOVE to see the set of my favorite show!

However, as I'm kind of a poor person, I can't see spending that much just for a set visit when you can pay WAY less than that to tour the entire WB LOT.

RIGHT? Oh my God, LA auction wasn't even as mad as the Ozcon one, for instance, but I was still like REALLY?! just seeing people bid that much for a fucking WALL SCROLL. I don't even know! I love that kind of fangirl dedication. I admire it... from afar.

Wait, how much is it to tour the WB lot? Now I'm only asking to get me even more angry about Creation, lol. I hate how much they're charging, but I would only really do this for the SPN set (or the Star Trek one).

Even though I can afford it, I still wouldn't pay that much on principle.

That's how I totally want to be. Like, on principle, this is fucking ridiculous. But at the same time, Supernatural Studios doesn't really open its doors to the public (like any studio), so it's probably my only chance to see it. And with me hoping to be in the industry, I have a special interest in seeing the sets.

UGH FUCK THIS SO MUCH :|

I know where you're coming from because I would totally geek out over a set visit, and TBH, this would interest me far more than the Con. If only it weren't money-grubbin' Creation. GRRR.

Seriously, I think the set visit is probably way more worth the money than the con itself, but seriously, that is a fucking retarded amount to charge, especially since they'll probably be keeping the profits.

Once upon a time myself and a couple of friends stood around for a few (okay, several) hours and watched Jared and Jensen pretend and it didn't cost us a damn penny. Or even an nondamed penny. I can't imagine paying almost $400 dollars for that. There is also mention that you can get your picture taken with the Impala. I also got that for free and I got to kick a tire. I mean, maybe if you get to sit in the Impala and pretend like you're driving it while making vroom vroom noises ... I guess that might be worth, I dunno, $10? If that. As for the location tours? Again, that cost as much as gas costs and while gas is pricey it ain't $200. Plus, it's much better to see some places at like 1:00 or 2:00 am. *nods*

If I had a lot of extra money laying around (read: Oprah's bank account) then sure, I'd pay for the tours but since I don't, I wouldn't pay for it. If you're going with people ... why not just get a car and follow the tour on your own and stand to the side and then you can get in on most of the action.

See, it's even cooler that you got to watch them do some scenes. I'm assuming that when we're there, they won't exactly be filming since it'll be the weekend. The location tours I sure won't be paying for, not when I can find out a bunch of the locations and drive around and see them for free. I guess it's the whole ~congoer~ experience, seeing it with a bunch of people, but you make a good point. A lot of them are probably cooler at night!

I'm just having a harder time REALLY wanting to do the set tour but unable to really justify spending that much. Hell, I just bought a rare PS3 for that amount of money. Meh.

If it's Saturday they might be filming.

I just ... I honestly don't understand how they can charge THAT much. Like, legally and morally. Especially if you're not guaranteed to see them filming?

Oy and vey.

OMG, if they guaranteed that we'd watch them filming, I'd crap myself and I wouldn't be posting this. STILL. STILL. It's like an exorbitant amount of money for a 90 minute tour... which isn't all that much, tbh. I demand we also have lunch on set FOR FREE with the catering company.

Srsly.

I had the same reaction. I was really mad at Creation and MYSELF for paying it!

Good news is that 24 hours after paying, I mostly got over it and am now VERY EXCITED about the set tour and the Impala photo!

It's a once in a lifetime thing for me. Even if I go to the Vanc Con in 2010 (did you see that Creation has put up something on their site with details to be announced at the 2009 Vanc Con?)--even if I go to the Vanc Con in 2010, I won't do the set tour again.

But yeah, I TOTES understand your reaction.

I've been lucky enough to see the sets of some of my favourite movies, and they were experiences I'll never, ever forget. So I know how cool it is and I'm absolutely dying to go, but the money is just something I don't have, so I'll have to scrounge to get it. That's why I'm having such a hard time justifying the price. :/

I'd go to the con, have fun, get a DD and go cruise around Vancouver to find the sets and heckle. Totes 4real.

OMG, I'd have to recreate the moment. Drunkenly. Where I'd probably actually lose my shoe. It would be bad.
