Character Information
Name: Miharu Rokujou
Canon Origin/Series: Nabari no Ou
School Year: 3 > 4
Gender: Male
Age: 13/14 (Birthday: October 10th)
Out of school living location: Ryde, Isle of Wight (UK)
Blood status: Halfblood

Personality: At first glance, Miharu seems to be an apathetic boy whose only dream is to inherit his grandmother’s okonomiyaki store, and that’s… exactly who he is. Even if danger and death would be snarling in his face, Miharu would just stare back at it.

While being actually quite intelligent, Miharu never uses this to his full capacity. Sometimes he acts in a cute and innocent manner, or sometimes sick and vulnerable, and plays on other people’s conscience in order to get what he wants, and he excels at it; not even full grown men can stand against it most of the time. The most important thing in his life is comfort for himself; his standard of good or bad is based on whether it’s comfortable or not, and he never works more than he has to. Miharu also has a tendency to slip away unnoticed when people are talking about things he’s not interested in, and he is rarely interested in anything. He will almost always follow other people’s suggestions without complaint, however sometimes he refuses to (usually when it is something that includes him actually doing something). He dislikes having to be dependent on something to live; something that effects how much he eats and is the main reason why he weights as little as 77 pounds while standing on 5 feet, 2 inches. Interesting enough, one of the few things he enjoys doing is cooking.

If someone could make his way through Miharu’s indifference, he would notice that Miharu actually not as indifferent as he seems; in fact he is scared and confused and yearns to be close to other people. His decision to act indifferent to others, and by extension to himself, is because he doesn’t want people to get hurt (or worse, killed) because of him, but also because he instinctively knows that he has something to do with his parent’s death, and this burdens him more than he would like to admit. He does everything to stay out of any kind of relationship. If he has to have some sort of relationship with anyone, he rarely lets it go deeper than acquaintanceship, and not even his grandmother really knows him. However, his indifference hurts him and the people around him even more. And behind all the apathy, there is still the small boy who lost his parents without knowing why.

Canon Background:(OOC: This is based on the mangaverse, not the animeverse that is slightly different.)
Miharu is an apathetic boy suddenly drawn into the world of Nabari, or just simply put the world of ninjas, after the secret art Shinra Banshou (literarily meaning “All things in nature”, all knowledge of the world have kind of been written into his body. Really written in.) awakens inside of him. The Shinra Banshou can control every aspect of nature and have a bloodthirsty conscience of its own who wishes for Miharu to use her power for himself even if it would lead to an almost certain death. He inherited this from his mother, who was killed when the Iga clan attacked her in order to take the Shinra Banshou from her. It resulted in that she completely erased what had happened that night from everyone’s memory before dying.

Miharu tries to find away remove the Shinra Banshou from his body, meaning that his friends and his teacher make most of the work while he just idles around making okonomiyaki. Then he runs away with a dying boy named Yoite who can kill people using his life force, becomes friends/falls in love with him, decides to fulfil Yoite’s wish to be erased from existence, does this, is left with what feels like a huge hole in his heart.

During all this he also fight many different kinds of ninjas, none which can actually be called evil, usually without even touching them and instead losing hold over the Shinra Banshou so that it begins leaking out of his body; crushing them with giant roots and other fun stuff.

Background (AU!Canon; HP):
Miharu was born to Asahi and Akatsuki in a small town in Japan. His mother was an outstanding witch, from a very proud pureblood family that could be traced far back in Japan’s magical history, while his father was a muggle of Japanese parents but raised on an isle in the English Channel and had never come into contact with magic before meeting Asahi. When she married Akatsuki, her family cut her off, considering her a blood traitor who had deeply disgraced the family.
None of this mattered to the Rokujou family; whatever pain Asahi felt at losing her family Akatsuki and his family eased a hundred times over. They moved to the United Kingdom, Scotland to be exact, where they befriended an eccentric old wizard and his grandson, whom the Rokujou’s cared for as if he were family. For several years they were happy, and an October night two years after their marriage Asahi bore a son; Miharu. The tranquil life of the Rokujous continued for another five years, and Miharu showed early to have inherited his mothers abilities and talent when it came to “nature” magic; just when he had turned three, an unusually early age for showing magical signs, Miharu made a grapevine grow from a small seedling to a long plant that covered the entire climbing frame in the playground in half a minute. Asahi and Akatsuki was delighted at their son’s power, but also felt a little unsure on how to deal with it. Feeling uncertain on how her other family would react to her having fostered what seemed to be an immensely powerful wizard in the making together with a muggle, Asahi suggested they perhaps should leave the country. Akatsuki pushed her worries away, telling her that she was overreacting.
One year and six months later, dark wizards attacked their home, probably sent by her biological family since they were intent on retrieving Miharu. Akatsuki was the first one who fell, having been hit by a stunner in the chest that sent him falling down the stairs. Asahi fought long and hard against them, but she was alone and no matter how formidable a witch she was, her strength slowly began to ebb away. Losing the battle, she was filled with hope when the old man and his grandson arrived. Screaming at the grandson to grab Miharu and run, she and the grandfather threw themselves wholeheartedly into the battle.
Something happened that night. Something huge, powerful, so powerful that it broke the laws of nature. But everyone involved forgot it, or were already dead. That night completely erased itself from everyone’s memories, even Miharu’s, as did the memories that Miharu could use magic... everything. Everyone seemed to have completely forgotten it, and Miharu was left with a blank hole in his memory where his childhood should have been.

Miharu moved in with his father’s mother in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. Having once been a sweet and happy boy, Miharu started disappearing; first emotionally, then physically. His apathy towards everything, including life, bothered his grandmother greatly. Trying to make him get interested in life again, she taught him how to make okonomiyaki, a kind of Japanese pancake, and made him help out in the okonomiyaki restaurant she ran. The plan didn’t backfire, but it didn’t work either. Miharu did get interested in something: okonomiyaki, and inheriting the restaurant when he grew up. Other things didn’t interest him though, and his body continued slowly wasting away from not eating enough food. Not creating any sort of connection with anyone, including his grandmother, Miharu remained friendless.

Life continued slowly in Ryde, until the early summer before his eleventh birthday. An owl arrived during breakfast. In fact, it flew in through the open kitchen door and swooped down several times just over Miharu’s grandmother’s head, until it dropped a letter on Miharu’s toast and flew away to land on top of a book case. Miharu stared at the letter for a few moments, before grabbing it and dropping it on the floor, finishing his toast before leaving the house for his last exam of the year. His grandmother however, opened the letter and got a shock. Her Miharu was a wizard, just as his mother had been a witch. Good Lord…

… She took it more calmly than she expected she would. But it felt like she should have expected this, somehow. How strange.

Once Miharu returned home, his grandmother explained the whole situation for him, that he would start a new school after summer that would teach him spells and potions, but also that this was something he inherited from his mother. Miharu just shrugged at the whole thing.

That September, he arrived at Hogwarts together with his white Sphynx cat, Shiratama. It was early on apparent that Miharu had considerable skill when it came to charms and herbology, but in other subjects he spent most of the time either staring out the window not paying attention or, when down in the dungeons for potions, staring into thin air. He did however hand in all his homework, and pass his exams; all with average grades except in charms and herbology. Through all his years, he never made a move to actually befriend his dorm, house and year mates, and in the end he earned nicknames such as “the master of indifference” and, a little more meanly, “devil brat” due to his sometimes manipulative behaviour. During these years, Miharu lost even more weigh as his grandmother wasn’t there to make sure he ate enough, and the summers afterwards was always kind of hard on both him and his grandmother since he had gotten used to eating what and whenever he wanted without any kind of pressure.

His life continues slowly, and Miharu continues living it being slightly disconnected from it and the world around him. One can wonder however, what would happen if Miharu began to experience strong emotions? Would the control he had over his magic hold, or would it break easily?
