----------------------------------------------------
Appearance: Anna looks every bit the self-important, stuck-up Gryffindor Quidditch player that she is. Her face usually always has either a 'back off!' or a 'wow, are you really that stupid?' look to it, especially when dealing with members of the other Hogwarts Houses. As a very sporty person, she keeps herself fit, but seems to be cursed when it comes to height -- she only stands at 5'3", a height which thankfully makes her small enough to be a Seeker. She has dark, wavy brown hair that she prefers to keep tied back when playing sports, and brown eyes. Although ever the tomboy -- hell, she would never wear skirts if she could get away with it -- Anna clearly has a feminine side to her, keeping up with a nice tan and a pretty face.
Played By: Missy Peregrym
Descriptive Personality: The Sorting Hat barely needed to be placed on Anna's head before the loud shout of 'Gryffindor!' rang throughout the Great Hall. Confident and overbearing, it's never hard to miss Anna's presence in a room, for one can always hear her speaking our laughing loudly. She is certainly not a quiet person, by far -- she loves attention, and doesn't particularly care what people think about her. Anna is stubborn and believes she should always get her way -- although she isn't particularly selfish, she just enjoys bossing people around. You would be hard pressed to find many feminine qualities about Anna's personality; she is crude and vulgar, and often talks and says things any "proper" lady normally would not.
Unfortunately, she is quite reckless -- Anna has no problem with getting into fights with the boys, and is a fierce competitor. It can never be said that she doesn't have House pride, as Anna looks down a little on anyone who isn't a fellow Gryffindor; if it weren't for the higher encouragement of House unity these days, she'd likely be a lot worse. As it stands now, it's purely Quidditch rivalry that fuels her Gryffindor pride. She can be very blunt and perhaps a little too honest when stating her opinion, no matter if it could hurt someone else's feelings or not -- she tends to speak before she thinks, which often lands her into a spot of trouble now and then. It is because of her honest opinions that Anna can seem very much the bully; if she thinks someone's unattractive, she's likely to tell them just that, and resorts to petty insults and below-the-belt comments.
Despite her competitive nature, she is rather lazy when it comes to her actual classes; Anna barely scrapes by with acceptable grades on all her work, and tends to hold off on things until the very last moment. She has no real goals in her life, and sometimes even entertains the thought of purposefully flunking so she can repeat another year at Hogwarts, just so she can stay a little longer. Anna does not want to grow up and be dumped into the adult world -- she has no idea what to do once she gets there. She enjoys Quidditch well enough, but certainly can't see herself ever doing it professionally. She lives for social interaction and fears having to commit to a full time job, wanting to cling to the social structure she currently has in the halls of Hogwarts.
While she is a bully, and although Anna is very loyal to her friends, she has a quick temper and can hold grudges for a very long time. While not so much a trouble maker in the "goofing off in class" sense of the word, her detention record continues to pile up due to the number of verbal -- and the rare physical -- fights she gets herself into. Anna seems to be very much a lost cause, no matter how great she thinks she is. Her magical talent is minimal at best, and although she is without a doubt a witch, it is quite possible that the magical world just isn't suited for her; even if she very much wants to be a part of it.
Family: Leslie (née Hurst) and Malcolm Dunlop have no known recent history of any witches or wizards in their bloodline -- they were oblivious to the wizarding world until their daughter was born. Perhaps somewhere along the line in their ancestry there had been someone with magical abilities, but they've been long forgotten now. The story of how they met and fell in love is not particularly remarkable or romantic, but there isn't a moment in their lives that they regret spending with the other. They attended the same university together, and remained good friends for years after they left school, which eventually turned into much more. It was no real surprise to anyone when they decided to tie the knot in 2003, but what was a (pleasant) surprise is when Leslie gave birth to their first and only child a few years later.
Just as outgoing as her daughter, albeit far less rude and with more patience, Leslie is a kind hearted woman who loves children. It was mainly because of this that decided her career in becoming a nursery school teacher. Although she had quit her job when she had Anna, Leslie resumed her teaching once again after Anna left for her first year of Hogwarts, since she would not need to stay home and watch after her daughter. She couldn't be more proud to have a witch in the family, and although sometimes the whole 'magic' thing still confuses her at times, she's come to accept it. She just wishes her daughter were a little more well behaved. It's obvious at first glance where Anna inherited all her looks from.
Anna's father, Malcolm, had a harder time dealing with the sudden appearance of witches and wizards into his life. It was mostly fear that drove the hesitance of it all, as it was something he didn't understand. Malcolm just wants his daughter to be save, and the thought of her going off to some wizarding school where he could not easily watch over her was difficult to warm up to. After Anna's first two years, however, Malcolm finally came to accept this new part of their lives more easily. Malcolm is a quiet man, although he possesses a subtle sense of humour. He loves electronics and is always obsessed with owning the latest and the best, and he works in the IT department of a software development company.
Detailed History: Anna Marie Dunlop seemed to be the perfect bundle of joy when she was born -- she hadn't been exactly a planned child, but both Malcolm and Leslie had wanted to have children one day, so they were certainly not disappointed with the surprise. Leslie left her job so she could stay at home to raise Anna, hoping she would grow up to be a perfect little angel, but as it turned out, Anna's birth wasn't the only surprise she'd be giving her parents. Their little "angel" was full of energy and had quite the taste for mischief and rough-housing. Leslie was glad she had decided to stay home to raise Anna, because she didn't think she would have the energy to handle both a job and her hyper little daughter. Nevertheless, Malcolm and Leslie saw Anna's energy as a good thing -- at least she wasn't addicted to video games and sitting in front of the TV all day, instead enjoying the great outdoors and playing sports.
Anna joined the local football team once she was old enough to play, and with practice and games in addition to school, she had quite the busy life. She did not begin to show any hits of magical abilities until later in her life, and it happened the way it usually does -- strange, unexplainable things began happening around her, things her parents just didn't understand. It wasn't an easy thing to accept; their daughter was a witch -- there was an entire wizarding world that they had never known to exist before, and their little girl would be part of it. It took a while for the family to get used to the idea, but once they learned more about the world, the more Anna became excited to be a part of it. After all, who wouldn't want to know how to do magic? It was like living in a dream!
Her first time arriving in Diagon Alley was overwhelming, to say the least. There was just so much she wanted to see and learn about, but there just weren't enough hours in the day to see everything, and she had to make sure she purchased what she needed for school. The broomsticks had caught her eye -- just imagine, flying! -- but otherwise she paid them no mind, knowing she couldn't afford one anyway, let alone know how to use one. The few nights leading up to her first day at Hogwarts were nearly sleepless, far too excited and nervous to even close her eyes. The days felt even longer, but at last the time came to board the train and begin her first year. As it turned out, there was a lot more to the wizarding world than she thought. There were wars and dark wizards that Muggles never even knew of, and the parents of several people in this school even participated in the last war -- which took place in Hogwarts itself.
She didn't know which House she wanted to be sorted into -- Anna supposed they were all alright, and personally, she didn't care that much so long as she was placed into one of them. She was surprised at how quickly she was placed, the Sorting Hat barely touching her head before putting her in Gryffindor. With excitement, Anna quickly ran to her table and began chatting with the other students immediately. She tried to talk to them about Muggle sports, but most of them seemed to be more interested in some wizarding game called Quidditch -- and once Anna saw her first match, she understood why, and her interest in football suddenly took a dive. Flying lessons became her best class, with Muggle Studies coming in close second (it was so easy!). She felt indifferent about the rest of her classes, but she managed to pass them all, and Anna's first year at Hogwarts went by in a blur; she was well behaved for the most part, if not still loud and full of energy.
As soon as Anna returned home for the summer, she was begging her parents for a broomstick. She was no longer interested in playing football, but as Anna seemed to go through hobbies like water, her mother and father were reluctant to put down the money on such a pricey gift. Nearly all summer long, Anna could hardly think about anything else but Quidditch. Although she had no ability to practice over the summer (she read a lot, at least), Anna had tried out for Quidditch in her second year, and landed a spot on the reserve team with future potential to replace the Seeker in the following year. Thus was the beginning of her competitive nature showing it's true colours, and Anna began getting detentions for her verbal abuse. Her grades slacked even more than they had the previous year but, fearing being kicked off the Quidditch team, she struggled to keep up with her studies. She put off work in favour of Quidditch practices and hanging out with her friends, saving things for the last minute, usually putting in the final touches to her assignments as she ran to her next classes.
Overwhelmed and confused as she was in her first year, Anna seemed to be adapting to the life of a witch easily in her second year. She found herself able to keep up with conversations and asking fewer questions, so she supposed she was learning some things in her classes. Although at the time she was only a reserve for the Quidditch team, Anna had the opportunity to play in an official game once when one of the players was too sick to fly. She loved every moment of it, and played the game to the best of her abilities. She didn't get a spot on the actual team until her third year when the team's Seeker left school, and she immediately tried out for the position. Her small frame and quick reflexes made her an ideal choice, and so much to her delight, Anna was no longer just a reserve. It was in her third year, however, that Anna flunked out of her first class -- she had first decided to take Divination because, well, being able to predict the future would be cool. Unfortunately, what she didn't realize was that the class actually took skill, which is something she didn't have. When Anna saw her grades, she decided not to continue with the elective.
When fifth year came along and Anna was faced with discussing her future, she realized that she hadn't decided on any direction for her life. She was perfectly happy where she was, hanging out with friends and playing Quidditch at school. She didn't really see herself pursuing a professional Quidditch career -- sure, she thought it was fun, but the thought of a career and being a professional at anything felt too... permanent to her. Being that Quidditch was the only thing she was actually skilled at, when it came time for her career advice appointment, that's what she decided to go with just to get the meeting over with. As it is now, Anna is trying to spend the rest of her days at Hogwarts having as much fun as she possibly can, and trying to pretend like this isn't going to be her last year and soon, she will have to grow up.
A Significant Childhood Memory: When Anna came home from her first year of Hogwarts begging for a broomstick, her parents were quite perplexed. They didn't really understand why their daughter had suddenly become obsessed with broomsticks and lost her interest in football, and they were rather disappointed with the sudden change. Apparently, they didn't exactly understand that one couldn't just buy any broomstick and a witch would be able to fly one, and they attempted to surprise Anna one day by buying her a completely non-magical broomstick from a local Muggle shop. Anna had been far too gone with laughter to actually be upset, but after explaining to her parents more about magical broomsticks, they had decided not to buy one for her due to the prices. That was when Anna became upset. It wasn't until the summer before her third year that her parents gave her the money to buy her own magical broomstick after they learned she was on the Quidditch team at school, but whenever she thinks about the day she purchased her Cleansweep, Anna will always be reminded of the first day when her parents had tried to surprise her.
