18. Vacation
Many people asked him why he had never traveled overseas before. The answer was simple, he was afraid of traveling by plane. The process of getting checked in made him incredibly nervous, always causing him to sweat buckets. The wait and anxiety that goes along with waiting for a flight to ground ruined his nails on numerous occasions. Finally, just the idea that his plane could be struck by lightning or have some sort of bomber on board made him faint in fright. Yes, Junsu hated to fly. How could he last a long flight out of the country?
Junsu’s plan went through simply. Get on plane, take sleeping peels, wake up when plane lands, no problem. Yeah, if he could just get over the other experiences at the airport.
It was no use, and as Junsu entered the airport with a ticket to Hawaii bought by his family, he held back his tears and gaped at the mass of bodies in front of him. “Dear Lord, please let this go over smoothly.” He closed his eyes, counted his steps, and bumped into an unsuspecting sir. “Oh, pardon me, sir.” He squeaked.
“No, it was my fault, are you okay?” Junsu looked up to see a much taller man with a silly grin on his tiny face. “I was too excited for my trip and wasn’t paying attention.” He flashed his ticket to Hawaii in Junsu’s face.
“Hawaii? Oh, that’s the same flight as mine! What a coincidence!” Junsu bowed a little and held out his hand for a handshake, completely missing the smirk on the man’s face.
“Yeah, a coincidence. Well, as you can read on my ticket, I am Jung Yunho. Maybe you want to check in your luggage together? I mean, at the same time.” Junsu blushed as Yunho grinned at him, and he immediately agreed, squeaking along as they went to baggage check-in.
Junsu shook in nervousness as his luggage was weighed, and he almost wanted to back out at the last second, but Yunho’s calming hand on his shoulder stopped him. “Hey, just calm down, it’s no big deal.” Junsu nodded and waited for Yunho to check in, and then they both took their time to find where they would be boarding. The next anxiety attack was sure to come again.
Sensing Junsu’s weariness, Yunho led him to a stray coffee shop for some calming drinks. While the caffeine did make Junsu even jitterier, it was for different reasons, and the effect was calming in the long run.
When boarding the plane, Junsu took relief with Yunho sitting next to him, just his good luck he mused, and hoped to engage in a lengthy conversation with him to keep his troubled mind occupied. His plans fell short, however, when Yunho fell asleep not five minutes into their smooth flight. At first, Junsu wanted to scream for company and mental haven, but he soon became entranced by the odd peculiarities of a sleeping Jung Yunho. His eyes opened slightly more with every minute, and his mouth was opened as if to taste rain. The sight was enough to humor Junsu and keep him stated until their pilot announced their nearing Hawaii. By then Junsu was calm and at ease.
At the airport Junsu and Yunho picked up their baggage together and were preparing to say their goodbyes. “So, Yunho, what are your plans for your vacation?” Junsu asked politely.
Yunho smirked again. “I was hoping you could help me. I have an irrational fear of losing new friends.”
