“Hyung, do you know what this is?” Changmin asked with his hands held up for Yoochun to see. The older put down his sheet music and eyed the maknae questioningly. From the seat next to him and in the dim light, all he could see were two of Changmin’s limbs attempting to punch him.
“Um, your hands? Wrinkles?” Yoochun’s mediocre guesses did not earn him a laugh like he expected. Instead, Changmin gave him that look and thrust his hands into his boyfriend’s face, sliding his chair closer.
“Have you ever heard of palm reading?” Changmin wiggled his fingers in emphasis, only forcing Yoochun’s eyes to roll. Changmin’s wiggling toes brought out a different reaction though.
“Yes Changmin, I have heard of palm reading.” Really, where was this conversation heading?
“And do you know where palm reading originated?” Having never thought of it before, no, Yoochun did not know.
“I don’t know, from the gypsies? You know, all that tarot card mumbo jumbo and crystal ball shit.”
Changmin shook his head in disappointment, still shoving his hands in Yoochun’s face, and slid his leg up and down the other’s thigh. “How misinformed you are, my dear. It originates in India, just like Buddhism. I’m Buddhist, if you remember. And no, I’m not wrong, the Buddhism you know was taken from the Chinese who took it from the Indians. So I know a little bit about palm reading and astrology.”
His fingers were practically touching Yoochun’s face, as if the close proximity would help him understand his point. Yoochun gently took one of Changmin’s fingers and pulled his hand aside. “So?” The action might have drawn the other in closer.
The eyes on that boy widened so much, Yoochun was sure they would pop out of his face. “So? Do you not understand that I have discovered a very important line on my hand? I assure you, this is serious business!” Changmin practically crawled into Yoochun’s lap so the other could see the crevices in his skin better. “This line could change how we see our future!”
Once again, Yoochun moved his boyfriend’s hands out of his face, only now to get a clear look at the other. “Alright, what’s the big deal? Is one of us going to get sick or do we break up? What’s the hot news?” As much as he wanted to sound languid about the other’s strange interest with palm reading and astrology, it was rather exciting to know their future.
That excitement transferred to the other, and he eagerly held out his right hand again and pointed to a small line on the bottom of his palm. “You see that? That’s my child line. People call it different names around the world, but for all intent purposes, it’s the child line.”
Now Yoochun really didn’t understand, and his belie eyes didn’t not convey his confusion to Changmin’s gleaming ones. “I see.”
Catching the fib, Changmin smacked him on the arm and continued to explain. “The significance of this is that it only appears when you’re pregnant. So we must be having a baby! Chunnie, I’m pregnant!” Changmin spread his arms in an expectant gesture, waiting for the hug that never came.
“You can’t be serious,” Yoochun deadpanned, shaking his head in disbelief. “You know, it’s your job to be the level-headed one. What is this bull you are trying to pull?”
Changmin’s face dropped so quickly, Yoochun instantly regretted his words. Slowly, oh so slowly, Changmin slid off Yoochun’s lap. “I thought you’d be happier, but I can see I was wrong.”
“You know you’re a man. You didn’t forget that, right? Or have you been cheating on me? You can’t be pregnant anyway, you top.” It hurt to say the truth so harshly, but yeah, it was the truth.
Changmin didn’t say anything, he just left the room. Yoochun just shook his head and went back to his composing. However, not five minutes later Changmin came back as cheerful as ever, this time thrusting a palm reading book his face.
“You were right! That wasn’t my child line; it was a stray travel line! Hey, let’s go somewhere! Somewhere kids aren’t allowed.” Better not to fight it, Yoochun told himself as he pulled out his phone to book a trip to an adult spa for two.
