I'm not a religious person to most extents but this has definitely caught my attention. Numerous people across the centuries have predicted all sorts of unexplained events. The Apocalypse, WWII, Kennedy assassination to name a few..some very well known people have predicted the end of the world to be around 2012. At the end it has been said that

as for the other things, i think they are largely cyclical in nature. problem is, we have an increasing number of people on the earth. the chance of people getting killed by a randomly placed act-of-nature also increases.
all that aside, i agree we are seriously fucking things up.

As far as crying statutes, etc., you don't need to look all the way to California to find that type of phenomena. I've an aquaintance who lives in rural IL who claims to have had visions of the Virgin Mary and, last I heard, on the 13th or 15th of every month, she is appearing to someone at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville.
I take it all with a grain of salt. My faith is not dependent on such things.
