Sunday I seen my brother Jimmy for the first time in about 30 years! He & his wife Wendy came down from Sheppard AFB for the weekend with their 3 Children (James IV aka Jared who is 7, Xavier aka Alex who is 5, and Payton who is 3. He,Wendy, and I were amazed that the kids all bonded with me instantly, as if they had known me all of their lives. Especially the 3 year old, they say she usually does not like any strangers. They also said it was the first time she did not get upset for not being with momma or daddy for such a long time period. I carried her almost the entire time we were downtown at the Alamo and on the Riverwalk. She fell asleep on my shoulder around lunch time. It was sooooo cute. All 3 kids are adorable little blond haired, blue eyed angels in my eyes. I love them sooo much, I wish I had known them their whole lives. Jimmy leaves for Iraq on the last week of August or the first week of September. He is a JET MECHANIC in the Air Force Reserve but will not be deployed as one. Instead his group will either do foot patrols or convoy security. What a Job for people who are not trained for that. Goes to show what thoughtful planning our leadership in Washington D.C. has done that they have to pull personnel from non-combatant type roles and put them into combat type jobs in a war zone. So he talked with my nephew and a couple of Marines that just rotated back stateside from the war on what to do because all his deployments have been in aviation capacity or in tanks in Gulf I, Bosnia, etc.

In other news....I was truly impressed by the Indy 500 performance of Danica Patrick!!

I normally do not like racing, but she did an amazing job and it is about time they started making room for the ladies!! In the 70s I was a big fan of "Wonder Woman" Shirley "Cha-Cha" Muldowney. She used to drag race and she was soo amazing. If you want to know more about Shirley, watch the 1973 documentary Wheels of Fire which includes her pitted against the top Rail drivers of the time Don "the Snake" Prudhomme & "Big Daddy" Don Garlits. You can also learn about Cha-Cha at http://www.muldowney.com/

30 years in Top Fuel Racing is incredibly impressive!

I have a new hero as well. Her name is Captain Erin "Aero" Smith, she is a  Fighter Pilot in Iraq. All of the ladies in the military are heroes! They are just as brave and patriotic as any man over there and you do not hear much about them.
