It's been said that life without pain has no meaning. This I cannot speak to, never having known such a life. But it seems clear that pain illuminates the joys in life. The sweetest bite is one taken after long hunger. The softest touch one that brushes bruised flesh. However, in the depths of misery few joys appear. And those who know true joy, who find true happiness, are more rare than any other freak of nature. Perhaps then, the mass of humanities lives exist only to illuminate the joys of others. If so, if I must raise up a light to paint a path for those fortunate few, then let me be a burning brand. Let my enlightenment sear the souls of all it touches, let my fire burn the world.
