Dec 06, 2011 10:20

I'm about to go to my two classes today at college and I'm slightly freaking out. I have a presentation in Music about a band I really love. Well obviously I chose the GazettE and hte song I chose was the live version of Taion from Decomposition Beauty because it's the most powerful punch in the gut of why I love this band so much because that ( Read more... )

Yeah I ended up going with it and my teacher cried. She made me read the lyrics in English and she told me that even if she had no idea what the lyrics were she would still understand that it was a powerful song. And one of the girls in my class was offended by it, but the song before it was a lot more offensive to me, but what can you do?

And you weren't biggering at all <3

I hope you choose Taion, it's the song that touches you the most, and it's about the band that YOU love! Just tell him, WHY you think that the meaning is good, and don't disrespect other kinds,, *since everyone can have an opinion right?* I totally agree with you inte Taion part, it's powerfull and meaningfull.
Please tell me how it went? *hugs*

I went with it and explained visual kei at the same time. My teacher ended up crying because she understood it was a powerful song even without the lyrics because of how emotional they were. There was one girl who was offended by it but the song before it was basically about necrophilia, so you can't win them all.

oooh i love that perf of Taion.
Good choice.
If i were to do a presentation of VK and with Taion, I would freak out at last minute too, because i wouldn't now how people would react to it and they probably won't accept it.
I showed it to some of my friends and they already find me weird. haha
but i wonder why people would be offended in such a good song.

There was one girl who was offended by the message. But the guy before me played a song about necrophilia so I guess you can't win all the battles.

She said because you shouldn't glamorize rape and murder.

But if she paid attention to what I said she would know it doesn't do that, it does the exact opposite.

no hunny, taion is perfecly fine~ if they want another meaningful tG song...make em listen to SARABA. or if they still dont like it, MY DEVIL ON THE BED will give a hundred marks. lol

When I did my presentation about VK, i used Miyavi's PAPA MAMA. i describe it to them as the most powerful and emotional song from a guy him. i told them the lyrics doesnt matter, but the melody does. i made them listen to FITB and CASSIS too. i said what made jrock so unique to me is because the songs are not in english (and of course the VK style). it makes you enjoy the music more than worry what the lyrics meant. I know the lyrics are important, but for me, as long as i enjoy the music im happy with it.
Told em as well, listening to jrock helped me learn more things (eg japanese language and culture). It opened my mind more about how to enjoy music freely also.

I told them that as well, that it helped me learn Japanese and learn more about the culture. And a lot of the people in my class had heard of Dir en Grey so they were happy to have more bands to listen to. After class a lot of people asked me to give them a list and I totally did! My teacher cried because she said she understood the meaning just because of how Ruki sang and how serious the others were. And when she saw Kai crying she just burst out in tears.

Long time reader, first time commenting (and it's not on a fan fic!) I hope this is alright :3

Im glad to read you used it ^^ your teacher should not have side eyed you in anycase, but I get where you are coming from. I did a fine art degree and used Japan as my influence (visual kei and pop culture) and I was forever arguing with him about the significance of every aspect of Japan in my work (not just visual kei) stand your ground for thing like this and don't let anyone get to you ^^ teacher or students alike :D

And post more chapters gdi xD

Can I just say that I absolutely love your username? Because I really do!

And it's not problem, comment when you want :) My teacher was perfectly fine with it and cried when I played the video. Even if it's in another language you can't deny the power behind that performance. Ruki's screams made everyone in the room look shocked and almost scared. The reaction was one that I hadn't been expecting but I liked it nonetheless.

And I shall post more chapters!
