[Waking in a human bed, and in what was clearly a child's room, was among the list of things Lucifer least expected. The world he had least been in, as he had left it, had been torn apart. Had been painted over new as it changed from the world of man to a blank slate of sorts: the Vortex world. The idea that he should be in a household that was ( Read more... )

... Speaking with a friend?

[Clod watches as Lucifer curses God above. There aren't many instances people feel the need to speak to the sky. After all, there's nobody there. It's a gesture that's often directed at a specific being. It's obvious enough for Clod to make note. She gives Lucifer a smile as she waits for a response.]

An old one. We'd had a falling out.

[Lucifer turns around to look at the girl and tilts his head. You look human enough, aside from the few telling features that keep Clod from entirely being such. Another demon or god? Maybe. He doesn't know yet.]

I'm just talking to myself, I suppose.

It's quite a boring place.

[Your language seems refined, Lucifer, but that's not enough to cast suspicion on you. You might've just had a good upbringing. Clod, believing that you're nothing beyond human, but perhaps still an uncommon one, speaks.]

Isn't it? It's as if somebody looked at a postcard and replicated the picture in an entire town. But... this is what it is. A picture on a postcard. There's more behind it.

[Oh, unsurprising. A pleasant image is always meant to hide something darker, more sinister. It was Law's way, YHWH's way, and so he's always held such things suspect.

You're the first person to possibly give him genuine information on his captors. That, at least, is worthwhile to keep talking with you.]

I wouldn't expect kidnappers to be friendly. What lies behind it, then?

And so, you too have been trapped here, Morning Star. I wouldn't have expected that you of all people would let your guard down.

[Lucifer's line of talk is familiar to Nyarlathotep. Who else but Lucifer would say such things? He already seemed familiar with the myriad rebirth of worlds given that he would prefer to this world as an "ideal world", implying the existence of many flawed ones.

Nyarlathotep, with his hands in his pockets, gives Lucifer the same look that he gives to all the other humans. It's a simple smile with no semblance to any great amusement. Ordinary and like one that humans would give one another, Nyarlathotep has blended in well among the town. But the two should be able to effortlessly recognize each other regardless.]

[Lucifer pauses a bit more than he has with others with responding. In most cases, Lucifer would be as much of a chameleon as Nyarlathotep in blending in with humans, but the child form has never been his forte, and can't help but have a bit off awkwardness to it. An...offsetting feeling to it

He thinks for a moment about asking Nyarlathotep if this was his work, some kind of trick between him and his masters, and dismisses it. For all their talk of being Chaos, Lucifer has always found them far too close to Law. But even then they still wanted destruction, an end, and this wouldn't seem to provide any immediate or easy means for that or any other benefit.]

Hello Crawling Chaos. I would say I would not have expected you to eventually be trapped, but that would give you too much credit.

[He gives a chuckle. The Crawling Chaos approaches Lucifer, but stops a few feet away from him. Normally, he would be more careful, but Lucifer in this world is quite powerless. If luck was on his side, then the Morning Star would not regain any of his powers soon. As fun a game between the two would be, Nyarlathotep prefers playing when the odds are consistently on his favor.

The enmity between the two was obvious. There will come a day when Lucifer will try to oppose him. While they are both aligned heavily with chaos, for those precise reasons, the two could never truly cooperate with each other. Nyarlathotep shrugs.]

That's quite enviable, actually. If there was anybody who would not be dragged into Mayfield, it would have been you. But look at how you've gone and disappointed me.

... My, perhaps we'll see Him soon too.

[Lucifer begins to frown. You may be a few feet away, but still not far enough in reverence for Lucifer's liking. As much as Nyarlathotep might be chaos, Lucifer himself will never accept it as chaos, which simply adds to animosity.

He doesn't take a step back, himself. As far as he knows, the Crawling Chaos is just as powerless as he is. And Lucifer wouldn't fear even if he did have a head start. His pride wouldn't allow it.

He gives a small sound of distaste, both at Nyarlathotep's comment and at his reference to YHWH.]

You assume He might not be here, already.

This place is certainly something that would please Him.

Sorry this is late, hope it's still okay to tag in? // Phone kinships November 25 2011, 15:03:40 UTC
[And replying over the phone, is the voice of another ten year old boy sounding polite in return.]

I'm afraid we don't know who has brought us here and why, Louis, but I can at least answer the where. The town calls itself Mayfield, and is apparently located in America on Earth.

Certainly fine! devilwithananny November 25 2011, 16:02:55 UTC
[Lucifer taps his fingers on the desk by him, thinking for a moment.]

Are you absolutely sure of that?

[It's not that he necessarily disbelieves this could be a form of Earth, or America. But there also lies the chance it's part of a separate realm entirely, one even he isn't familiar with. As inconceivable as that seems to him.]

[There's a contemplative pause for a moment.]

I'm not sure. It's certainly what this place markets itself as being, but I can't believe it's as simple as just a town in America.

Nor do I.

Perhaps it is another world. It isn't so hard to believe, I think. But from what I've heard, it certainly doesn't sound like it abides by any rules that Earth does.

[At least, not any Earth he's familiar with.]
