A. Near the Church, Afternoon
[If you happen to be by the church today, you might spot a young, blonde haired boy looking at it from a short distance. It's hard to tell what he's doing at first; considering it looks like he's hiding behind a tree, he could easily be mistaken as a child possibly playing a game with a friend. But if you look closer

Noticing the child hasn't left the entire time, he'll wait until the crowd passes and speak up after hearing what the kid says.]
I doubt it.

Do you?
There's the chance we're talking about two different people entirely.

Though, in context, I doubt anyone is enjoying it anymore.

I daresay young man, that's an awful lot of snowmen you are building!

I was quite bored.
There's not much to do in this town.
[At least not at the moment.]

[Nova will step closer and inspect.]
Lovely work by the way, though I would have constructed a heavy labor level mech to construct snowmen several stories tall.
[Why? Because SCIENCE!]

Ah. So you are a man who prefers to use indirect means to make things, then?
I suppose I can relate to that, sometimes.

[A suspicious man with pale skin and messy hair wearing a suit is speaking with a group of choirboys who had just left the Church. He's carrying a book in his hands.]
My young lads, would you do me the favor and sing just one more song with me for Him? Just one more song, as long as we are still here, in His house.
[The drone boys comply and as they're about to sing, Caster opens Prelati's Spellbook.]

And really, he does want to see exactly what Gilles is going to do.]

That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
[The boys and Caster begin singing. It's one of the hymns that they sang during today's sermon. Caster closes his eyes and he becomes lost in the melody. The volume within his voice appears as if it is increasing. Certainly, his voice is starting to drown out those of the children.
No, it isn't that Caster's voice is growing louder. The boys' voices are growing weaker. They begin coughing as if they're choking on something. At this point, only Caster is still singing the hymn, ignoring the boys as they drop to their knees, grasping at their throats.]

He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
[From inside their stomachs and through the esophagus, something begins clawing its way upwards. Writhing tentacles force their way out of the mouths of the children and as Caster continues singing the lyrics to Amazing Grace ( ... )

Lucifer begins to approach, fearlessly, looking the demons over.]
Is use of the Ancient Tongue always necessary for summoning, or did you simply choose to include it this time.

[the voice is coming from above! yep, add another to the tally of townspeople who like to lurk in trees... Charles, who was waiting for the church to empty out before going inside, had chosen to remain still and silent up until the stranger below spoke.]

An old acquaintance of mine. We've since had a parting of ways.
Have you been there long?
Reply
Far too long. It slipped my mind that Sunday masses are half an hour longer than the weekday ones.

[He isn't taken aback or surprised by the grace at all. If you had been able to snoop on him that well for so long, Charles, he doesn't doubt you must have a considerable amount of it.]
Oh? Could I ask why you were watching?
Reply
There weren't too many real kids his age. This kid looked pretty real. That was awful long hair to have on a boy.
He's trying to be sneaky as he comes up behind Louis, but his boots crunch softly in the snow. Also...] Uh. Hey. [That wasn't a very subtle whisper.]
What're you doing?
Reply
Oh. I was simply watching.

He shuffles around to the other side of the tree, and watches for a moment.]
...why're you watching?
Reply
I just wished to see how many might go to the Church.
