I use Topaz several times, each time with different settings to get desired looks for particular parts of my icon (hands/hair/background) and I use lots of glowing black and white textures :) I hope this helped you in some way.

Yeah, I was going to leave #18 in color, but then I realized that they look too similar (coming from the same moment). But I wanted to show some kind of connection, not conveyed through color alone, so I went for black and white look to capture her sorrow. I'm glad you see it :)

You should do more black and white, your lighting looks fabulous on those <3
