Kite and I went to a sheep shearing festival today! It was fun! We saw sheep being sheared! And got to pet angora rabbits! And llamas! And ALPACA! Seriously, alpaca may be the cutest adult creatures on the face of the planet. And sooo soft. If they didn't cost a fortune to raise, I'd keep them in the back yard. We also saw border collies at work, ( Read more... )

I have an angora bunny!

And rabbit's roommate has alpacas and llamas back home.

Ok, I guess maybe we midwesterners are a little strange...

They were lovely! I know nothing about bunnies, but I love angora yarn. Which I suppose isn't the best reason to own a bunny.

"Maybe"?? Ha.

Ooh, wherewherewherewhere?! Wantwantwantwant!!

And yeah, I hate to admit it(cover your ears, icon!), but alpacas _are_ even more adorable than llamas. Just by a little. I have a pic of a line of alpacas, and every one looks like it's their 2nd grade class pic being taken, and they're dying of excitement about it. Unbearably insanely adorable.
Glee.

And, well, (sheepishly, heh) fried dough is a joy of the world, however sinful and BAD. You were good. But I have to ask: how did you do that? ?

It was at Gore Place in Waltham, but only for a day. :( There was a big turnout, though, so it seems to be an annual thing.

How'd I do what, not eat fried dough? Kite's fault: he decided (rightly so) that we'd probably be ill for the rest of the day if we ate it, and we had plans last night.

Yes. It is a heinous egregious flaw in my genetics that I don't get ill from it. Lucky I stay away from faire events, generally.

It may surprise you to know I can and have sheared sheep in Ireland ;) - it's nasty work though as last bit is dipping them to protect the next coat.
And you're right about border collies - I had one there called "Sailor" and he was smarter than any animal I ever loved.

Those llamas though - they have mean dispositions!

It does suprise me! It shouldn't, though, you're like some sort of rennaisance woman. ;) I'd be scared to death of maiming the sheep. This guy went all around the throat and chest without being able to see the shears, because they were wayyyy under the coat. Scary!

Llamas are cute, but not compared to alpacas.
