I miss North Dakota. I miss the sound of wind whistling in the windowscreens, thunder rolling over the horizon, the smell of sagebrush, the calls of meadowlarks, the sight of badlands falling away from the plains, the thrill of seeing wild horses and bison and - was that a glimpse of a wolf? the track of a cougar?, the peacefulness of my family's farm, the happiness of the Northern Lights in the sky and the thick carpet of stars with no light pollution to drown them out, the excitement of finding a tipi ring or a fossil or an old falling-to-bits part of someone's homestead...

While I admit that I've never had any desire to visit either Dakota, that sounds lovely.
