The thing is, currently YA is just in a phase where teenage girls' fantasies are being created and stuffed down their throats, willingly. Love is extremely complicated and complex. It's not simple at all. But some teenage girls want it to be. So what do we have? Books where love is as simple as 2x2. What also annoys me is that the love interest is perfect, which no love interest is. Whatever happened to loving even if they have flaws? And the couples in these books are also perfect. They never have any complications other than a possible third love interest. That's not realistic at all. Heck Ennis and Jack in Brokeback Mountain had their complications. They loved each other but they still had realistic complications. They were living a complex double life and it eventually begins to cave in. And it's not like complications turn us off. If anything it makes us more passionate about the couple.
Yes that is very true and I think love is meant to prove you can look beyond faults. Was it easy for Belle to love the beast? Hell no! But that is what made their relationship strong. When she could look beyond him being ugly and see how kind and loving he really is

I would definitely change that. I actually started writing a book which is partly a parody of these YA 'romances', which basically shows them as the abusive and superficial relationships they really are. (-cough- Bella and Edward. -cough cough- Nora and Patch.)
oHH that sounds interesting, I hope your book gets out there. I sometimes think how easy it must be with all these crap books i keep seeing. Like one clone after another
