As guys, we have a tendency to try and fix things that we perceive to be bad or broken, it is in our nature, but when it comes to commuincating with women, this natural instinct can get us into trouble. Actually it seems to me that it's WOMEN who really tend to enable and tend to think they can change a guy. It's true there are some men who believe they can change a woman or fix her, but more often than not, I run into women who constantly think they can change someone and all I can say is...you get what you see. Very rarely does anyone ever change for anyone except themselves, and perhaps counseling can help...but you can't HOPE to change ANYONE, period.

On the two things regarding venting and validation, yes, I'll agree with that.

In this I am not referring to trying to fix a person or change them but just general something is wrong situations. ;-)

Your opening statement was " As guys we have a tendency to fix things that we perceive to be bad or broken." How else was I supposed to take this comment?

YES.
But in my experience, it seems to be a human thing. It seems to be something that everyone from my BFF to the guy on the bus I've never seen before needs. I don't know if the dynamic changes when the listener is a 'she,' but as the talker, I do know for sure that, yes, I need to get it out and I need the other person to honestly tell me if I'm crazy or not. You'd think I'd know by now that yes, yes I am. ;)
