[Nill's not a fan of high school. Not being able to talk has left her without any friends, and with lots of teasing and bullying. Today is no different, and she's currently stuck in between three older and much taller boys. They're talking loud, as if she can't hear the jokes they're making (because people who can't speak obviously can't hear, ( Read more... )

[Although for different reasons Dante isn't much of a fan of school either, but what can you do. Three loud and annoying jocks. Well, he could do something about that.

Dante casually walks up to the group and grabs the nearest guy from behind by the belt of his trousers. He's suitably surprised as her jerked backwards; lifted off the ground and shoved head-first into the nearby trash bin. The action causes the other two to stop talking and stare, which gives Dante time to grab guy number two and repeat the process. After discovering fists don't work too well, idiot number three takes the hint and flees the scene and Dante dusts his hands off on his trousers.

He looks back up at Nill.]

Hey. You goin' somewhere? Need help carrying those books? No good if those assholes made you late huh.

[Nill just stares at him for quite some time, unsure of how to take in what had just happened. She's seen Dante around school, and has seen the way he treats others, so she's not sure why he just helped her. But all the same, she's grateful and she slowly nods, and holds out her books for him to take.

She wants to speak to him, to give him gratitude, but she can't. So she loses her smile and frowns, mouthing the words 'thank you' instead. She doesn't bother with signing, she knows that he wouldn't understand it.]

[If he expected her to be surprised by his behaviour he isn't showing it, but then again he might suck at poker but his poker face always was pretty good. However, he offers her a slight smile and nod at the mouthed 'thank you'. Accepting the books, he shoves them under one arm and motions the other hand towards the school.]

You show the way and I follow, yeah?

[She can feel herself blushing, she's not used to someone like Dante helping her out. She's also not used to being in the company of boys, and she nods before leading the way. She's used to being a follower and not a leader, however, and so she walks evenly with him, careful not to stray too far from his side.

She glances up at him every couple of seconds, and before she can control it, a smile is on her face. She wants to talk to him, wishes that they could have a conversation, and before she has a chance to talk herself out of it she's moved to stand before him.

She holds out her hands for his free one, and waits for him to oblige her before spelling out N-I-L-L on his palm. She spells it out twice and points to herself, and then tips her head off to the side and points at him. She then spells out D-A-N-T-E and glances up at him questioningly. She's sure of his name, she just wants to have an excuse to spend a little bit of time with him.]
