I've been mulling over this entry all day, and not getting very far. In fact, I'm finding this one so difficult that I actually looked up the definition of hobby, in the hopes that it would provide some guidance. Unsurprisingly, it did not tell me anything new - no guidance there. So here I sit at 9:39 pm, with 2 hours and 20 minutes to come up

I guess... it just feels like a way of socializing. Like going out to dinner or a movie, except more exciting. :)

If we did what we would do naturally as a primary occupation, however, we would call it our 'job' (and be profoundly lucky). But the definition you found in the dictionary suggests: If you do it, enjoy it, and don't derive the majority of your income from it - it's a hobby. :)

I studied 4 years of it in school, but I remember very little of that. I definitely could use the brush-up.

So yeah, I'm one of those people who has two of his hobbies as parts of his job (the computer programming and research). And I've unfortunately fallen out of the model building, I should really get back to that.
