I didn't make a post about this when it happened (since it matters little), but a few weeks ago I took a job as a shift manager at Einstein Bros., which is a bagel chain with three locations in Columbus. It's not bad as far as foodservice jobs go - decent pay, easy work, and it's always in the morning so even if I'm there for a full day I'm always ( Read more... )

don't give up on the novel writing at any time; you are a really good writer.

obviously you have to do something in the daytime to finance that until it takes off/works, but that is one of the things you have to do to make your dreams work

"being a responsible adult" is code for "being afraid of failure"

I think to add onto what Steve said, it helps to always keep the goals you want to achieve in front of you at all times, and as he said you have A job so you have something to support those goals outside of work. Another thing to keep track of would be your time off work and asking yourself, "Am I really making use of my free time the way I want to?" I've hit this snag on numerous occasions in the winter, and it's helped to remember what my goals are.

I'll offer whatever support I can if you need it. Good luck in the meantime, hopefully with SNP.

Thanks for the responses, fellas. I'm actually a little embarrassed that this entry even exists - when my self-loathing does flare up I'm usually not one to put it on display.

Still, I appreciate the encouragement, and this has helped me to put a sharper focus on how I spend my time. Much obliged.
