Silver is pretty, but must be carted about, insured, and polished. Regular forks and spoons will get the food to your mouth just fine. Metal bowls are pretty until you want to pass around something hot (heck, even warm) in them.

The basement flood dampened the box Great Grandmother Blanche's china was in, so I had to unpack it. It's pretty, but I'm never going to use it. It was packed up in 1989 and NOBODY has used it in the interim. And yet it's been moved (mostly by professional movers)... six times? I have maternal dispensation to sell, so I've pinged Replacements, Ltd. to see if they want it.

So, sell it. I wish my mom would do the same with the Russian silver tea set no one has used in my life time.
