Way too watered down. I just came back from seeing it. They switched around key points in the ending, avoided the more grim subjects, and totally didn't conclude the story. There definitely was a conclusion in the book, but apparently peoples' eyes just can't handle the full truth of the stories, or so they seem to think. WTF.

Yub. Bullshit. Everything in the movie looked pretty nice though. It wasn't baad, just not the real story. They really could keep the whole flow of it and depth of the characters the way they were meant to be without complicating our feeble minds. They could have kept the length. They also could have kept the story the way it was in the first place without trying to make up reasons for follow up plot points that they wouldn't need to create if they just KEPT IT THE WAY IT FUCKING WAS! It would just be much more worth the $9.50, but they don't want to give us that. They want to pretend that what we read in the book was just in our imagination.
I read an interview where the director said he wanted it to look more appealing to audiences. In other words, he was too chicken shit to stick to the real story.
