Grime

May 07, 2014 21:32

I seem to get dirtier when I work on my car than I recall my father ever being when he works on cars. Not sure if the underside of the Cavalier is especially dirty, or if there's some stylistic difference between my father and I. But I come into the house covered in grime from fingertips to elbows and sometimes on half of my face.

Haha. Actually, I find it occasionally frustrating, because I don't always manage to have a clean-enough-to-be-useful rag outside. It's hard to let myself into the house and work the faucets without getting grime all over everything else. I don't necessarily dislike being dirty, but this variety of dirt is hard to get rid of, although easy to spread all over things. :-/

Unrelated, I am proud of you!

Earlier this week when I was doing exhaust work, using an angle grinder under the car and producing a huge rooster-tail of sparks, I imagined that I ought to get CJ to snap a photo of me, wedged under the car, face blackened like a chimney-sweep's, bathed in a fountain of sparks. It could be my new profile photo.
