...and surprise! It's cold. Alaska cold now (-47f in town, -28f on my porch). Stuff "just doesn't like to work right" cold. The ice fog (ice smog) hangs over much of town lending an eerieness to the place -a miasma of burnt wood, gas and oil (Fortunately that we live out of that frozen cloud). I'm sorry to hear about your Mom ... and I wanted to suggest another cold-weather trick ... assuming it's still -40 up there (I'm in Kodiak, so I wouldn't know). This only really works at about -40 or colder, so it might be too "warm" at home. Take a pan of hot water outside and throw it hard into the air. It's fun!

That's for sure...consider this: it is more than 100deg colder here than in Orlando today! (O.o) Egads!
