*Warning* Book-geek ravings follow
I *know* that the entire population of Fairbanks couldn't possibly fit into the Barnes and Noble on opening night...but it sure seemed that way. This was a Disney World on Labor Day type of crowd- if you can envision said crowd in winter clothes and toting an armful of books while sipping lattes. (and who knew horn-rim glasses were so popular with the 'tween crowd?) I'm fairly certain most of these folks knew one another too -although my experiences at the Fred Meyer have taught me anyone might come up to you and discuss just about any subject you could imagine without provocation. And the Line! Egads! The wait at the checkout counter was something on the order of 45 minutes...Gah! all those books and not enough time to buy anything. *sniff* (We resolved to try again tomorrow...New releases await!)
At least we now have a place to go Saturday nights after the movies :P This town will never be the same again...heehee!
