How I'm spending my holiday season so far...

Dec 17, 2004 10:43

I've spent the past three mornings waiting for my car to be repaired. The problems were supposedly corrected each time; and yet each morning, the warning lights go flashing again, sending me back to the shop three times in a row. And guess what! They were unable to work on it today, so I get to go back again on Monday ( Read more... )

I've never read Peyton Place. You'll have to tell me what you think of it. And if it's full of Harper Valley hypocrites.

Peyton Place is a lot of fun -- kinda dated, but still relevant. Not terribly sleazy by today's standards but well worth reading just the same. It's full of all kinds of characters!

Your car is my cars psychic friend! madge_pastiche December 17 2004, 23:52:05 UTC
My freaking car just died! And repairs will be $800-$1200 dollars! I'm so not appreciating the terminator-3-inanimate-machines-who-stole-christmas behavior of these freaking automobiles lately. But just before I read your note I had just finished giving myself and the boyfrubby a big fat pep talk about bikes. Yay bikes, and yay hippie us for being so alternative and good-attituded about the whole damned thing. Merry freaking christmas!

Hey, you've got SEPTA -- you can always take public transportation, even if it's not known for its reliability. And bikes are always good!

My car hasn't died; it just has a handful of electrical problems that get on my nerves. But speaking of terminator 3 automobiles, some other Volkswagen drivers have had problems far more obnoxious than mine: lights turning off and on at random, doors locking and unlocking, windows rolling up and down ... those cars needed an exorcist instead of a mechanic.

Good to know about the ghostly electrical symptoms! Yipes! I'm glad to know that our cars are NOT psychic friends. My car might be a bad influence on yours...

Septa is faboo, I must say: today we put Chas' bike, which had a flat, on the nice new rack on the front of one of the buses and the bus took us right to the bike repair place: way cool.

The copy of Every Night, Josephine! that I bought for the browsing collection came in this week, and NO ONE HAS CHECKED IT OUT YET. Every time I walk past it (of course I have it prominently displayed on top of the shelves where the collection resides) I feel like I've failed Jackie somehow.

This weekend I'm reading through my entire collection of old romance comics--wow, Phyllis, you're so intellectual!

Maybe you should consider working up a Josephine press junket! Bring poodles to work! Or set up a display of wind-up poodle toys to hop around the book.

Gosh, I dunno. There's just no accounting for other people's bad taste and lack of awareness. The new cover is so dynamic -- how could anyone pass it up?? It certainly isn't your fault.

Something else I keep meaning to read is Tammy Faye's new-ish autobiography. I've read her older one but now I need the updated dish! Do you read Tammy's blog? She's got good news if you haven't read it yet!
