Hey guys! So I am trying a new way to develop my characters that I may or may not use in my books or random stories. This is the first one I did and I really like his character but I think I will get better as I go.
Let me know what you guys think.
Arron Fabron
Physical Traits:
Eyes: Green and Clear

Age: 23 1/2
Unique Features: Crooked smile, large beauty mark above his right eyebrow, birth mark on his right thigh.
Attractiveness: Arron tries very hard to blend in with the crowd, but his bright smile and build gets him a fair amount of attention from the ladies.
History:
Where did you grow up, Arron?
Born and raised in a small town; the kind of town where everyone knew everyone else’s business. I didn’t mind it too much ‘cause I kept my nose clean and stayed out of trouble, but for those who didn’t it could get real tough to live there. I left when I was 18, but think about going back almost every day.
Where do you live now?
I moved to a smaller city, but it’s still too big for my liking. Everyone here is so busy all the time - nobody has time for anyone but themselves. It’s depressing, but I’m no better. I keep to myself and live day to day and just try and survive.
What kind of parents do you have?
I grew up with very loving and attentive parents. Family is big where I am from. Unfortunately, I just lost my mom about a year ago now. She was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer a year before that. Dad isn’t taking it too well; they were high school sweethearts and all. But, with a little help from the rest of us he will get through it, just like I will.
What were your siblings like?
I have two sisters - one older and a twin. Bella, the older one is definitely a tough cookie to crack. She’s sweet as can be most times, but she’s got a kick to her you wouldn’t expect. She tormented me a lot when we were younger, which she will deny. Now, she’s the glue that holds the family together since mom’s been gone. Kayla is the youngest and as such she’s spoiled as hell. She got all the looks in the family too - don’t tell Bella I said that though, she’d kick my ass. She and I have always been close, which is expected. In fact, she’s my best friend. We look nothing alike though. While Bella and I have dad’s hair, Kayla got mom’s bleach blonde hair. The only things we share are our age and mom’s green eyes. Actually, we all have mom’s eyes, dads are blue.
What kind of job do you have?
Right now, I work part-time at a coffee shop just down the street from the house I’m renting with Kayla. It’s not at all glamorous, but the free coffee I get is definitely worth it!
Did you have another job before this one?
Not officially. I worked on the farm at home. Being the only boy meant I got a lot of the grunt work. I helped dad in the fields a lot and cut wood for the fire place. In return, I got allowance every month which is more than what some people could say.
What was school like for you?
Well, like I said, everyone knew everyone’s business. I tried really hard to stay out of trouble and blend in so I didn’t make any of the daily gossip. I did pretty well with that. Because of that, I did really well in all my classes. Everyone knew me as Kayla’s quiet twin brother. She was well liked - super sweet and attractive. She also sings a lot so she got well-known in the choir. I was perfectly happy being her sidekick and met some girls through her, so can’t complain.
Did you go to college?
Currently living that life, actually. I am in my 5th year on my way to becoming a doctor. More specifically, a trauma surgeon. Hence the reason I left home and why I am working in a coffee shop and not back on the farm. I enjoy it, but still try and blend in as much as I can. Unfortunately, sometimes Kayla makes that impossible.
What kind of child were you when you were growing up?
I’d say we were all pretty good. Mom wouldn’t have it any other way. She raised us with the ideal that children respect their elders and especially their family. I had my moments; I am a boy after all. But as I have said, I tried to keep my nose clean and I think I succeeded in that. I’m sure Dad would have some stories though.
Relationships:
1.How does my character normally interact with people that they’ve just met?
Arron is pretty smooth when he wants to be, and is comfortable around strangers mostly because he doesn’t really care that they are there. He gets along well enough with most people, but doesn’t go out of his way to make relationships happen. He’s always felt that it was better to stay quiet and slip through the cracks than to have his name on any records. His twin is the one who encourages him to socialize, and to shut her up, he tries now and then.
2.Are they shy, bold, or somewhere in between?
With his family and close friends Arron is definitely bold. He is witty and always has something to say about pretty much anything that comes up. Though it’s never insulting, he can definitely make people laugh. However, he is pretty withdrawn from the rest of the world and doesn’t see the point in looking for any sort of relationship. That being said, people might say that he is shy, but those that know him know that that is far from the truth. In fact, he’s really quite charming.
3.How does my character normally act around people that they like?
Arron loves his family and friends more than anything and loves to see them laugh and happy. He goes out of his way to make sure that he plays a part in their happiness and would never intentionally hurt someone - especially those he cares about. His sisters tease him that he’s too much of a push over to have a real relationship but frankly, he just hasn’t found someone he thinks is worth the effort - yet.
4.How does my character deal with people they don’t like?
It’s pretty rare that Arron genuinely doesn’t like someone. However, if someone messes with the people he cares about, you should probably watch out. Though he would never start a physical fight, he is quick with his words and his stature can be quite intimidating to some. He has his Dad’s look and knows how to wield it when he feels it is necessary.
Tell me about your twin, Kayla.
What’s there to say? Kayla is, well Kayla. She’s pretty spoiled, and she expects people to cater to her. She is a very sweet, and down-to-earth girl in the sense that she loves everyone and would never treat anyone badly, but she does think that everyone should be doing just about anything for her. Being her twin has made that tough since I pretty much had to do everything and anything for her growing up. I don’t really mind though, as long as she’s happy.
Didn’t that ever get tiring?
For sure it did. But, she’s my sister, my twin. It definitely led to some fighting, but I always caved in. That’s probably why she’s so spoiled now. Dad was the same way. Mom and Bella are the only ones who put their foot down.
So what is it like having a twin, besides the relationship?
Normal.
For you maybe…
Sorry. Everyone asks that and I never know how to answer it. It’s all I know. Just like you might have “normal” siblings or none at all, you don’t know any different.
Fair enough. You guys seem pretty opposite, is that true?
I get that a lot too. I wouldn’t say we are opposites; we are actually really similar. The big difference is she’s used to being in the limelight, and I prefer to stay out of it.
Would you say she’s pushy?
Haha. Don’t let her hear you say that. She’d be super offended and probably talk your ear off about how insulting that is, and then I would have to sit here and convince her it was only a question. Never fun. I would just say she’s convincing. She definitely convinces me to get into shit I never wanted to be involved in.
Like what?
Dating. Going out. Partying. Pretty much everything I try and stay away from. Not to mention getting me to do her chores, school work, etc.
What about your dad? How is your relationship with him?
Dad is … Before or after Mom?
Both.
Before mom passed, Dad was very outspoken and never really went out of his comfort zone unless Mom made him. He is a really hard worker, and I helped him out a lot. We never really talked much, he never really had much to say, but we were close. I could talk to him about anything and even though he didn’t really have much to offer in terms of conversation, he always had something smart to say. I really valued his advice. Since mom has been gone though, he’s made a conscious effort to be more vocal with us kids. He calls all the time, but you can tell he is sort of withdrawn. So, in a way I feel like our relationship is dwindling which is tough for me because, I mean - he’s the only parent I have left, and as I said I put a lot of value into his advice and in turn our relationship.
But you’re still close?
I try to be. It would kill me to lose that relationship. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am now.
So, you would say he was a role-model?
Not a - THE role-model. For all of us, not just me. Like I said, Dad always had something smart to say, and since he talked to little, when he did talk, he made sure it was significant. We all took his words to heart, even Mom. He’s the one who inspired to be a doctor. He said he always wanted that, but he felt responsible for the farm.
That’s sweet. You’re living his dream.
Uh, thanks. But I wouldn’t say I was living his dream. It’s my dream, too.
So, you guys are a lot alike then? Outspoken, dream of being a doctor…
Yeah. I’d say so.
Hopes and Fears
1.What in the world does your character fear the most?
Easy, losing his family. Second to that would be letting the down, and failing in his career/school.
2.What does your character want the most?
Even though he’s somewhat withdrawn, he wants nothing more than to find a girl that catches his breath and raise a family of his own on the family farm. After all, he’s the only one to carry on the family name.
3.What’s standing in his way of getting what he or she wants?
His lack of interest in socializing with just about anyone besides his family and close friends.
Personality:
Arron Fabron is a 23 year old man with a huge heart, and a lot of ambition. There is nothing more important in the world than family, and because of that he dreams high and is willing to work as hard as he needs to get there. Right now, he’s living in the city working on getting his medical degree but his heart is back in his home town on the family farm.
He’s spent his whole life trying to blend in and avoid getting noticed for anything but his successes because of his deep-rooted fear of failing his family and himself. So far, he has done well with that and is mostly known for his rising-star twin sister, and being at the top of his class.
Being so wrapped up in keeping a quiet image has cost him any meaningful relationships outside of his family, though. This has him feeling a little lost when his sister isn’t around to pull him out of his comfort zone and away from his books. It’s ironic that he has always fought so hard for his dreams and yet, the one that he wants the most - a wife and family - escapes him as he occupies himself with blending in.
With his mom recently passed, and his relationships with his father and sisters straining, Arron is finally starting to wonder if maybe he’s gone about his whole life quietly while he should have been more assertive.
Arron has never had trouble with the ladies finding him, but unfortunately his need for finding a woman who can truly take his breath away has kept him from starting anything more than a roll in the hay. Don’t jump to any conclusions though; Arron would never lead a girl on. He has always been clear with them that he wasn’t interested in starting anything serious even though his heart is longing for something more.
