Personality This is a complicated thing to explain, and a (brief, I promise, because more details will be in the history) different explanation has to be made, first. Jadzia Dax may be a young woman, but she is also more than that. She is an alien, specifically a joined Trill. Dax is more than a last name--it is the name of a symbiont living inside of her; a creature that carries the memories of several other hosts. While she doesn't shift between personalities in an MPD-like way, her personality is complicated by and connected to those other hosts, which makes her very complex.

Her actress said once that Jadzia is "wisely mischievous", and that captures her in a nutshell. Because she has, in essence, lived 7 other lives, plus her own life as Jadzia before and after joining with the Dax symbiont, there is a depth of experience she always carries. When confronted with a situation, she reacts with more wisdom than a 33-year-old woman usually has at her disposal. Her memories range from lives engaged in politics to gymnastics to ( ... )

At these times, the fun-loving prankster who gambles all night with Ferengi and listens to Klingon loves operas for fun becomes very vulnerable and open. These sides of her don't clash: her nature is to come out of these rough spots with new strength. To take in a weakness and overcome it. That means that she faces her weaknesses...though sometimes, she certainly does need a kick to get moving in the right direction. Before receiving that kick, she can become exceptionally stubborn, especially in her pride is at stake in matters that truly concern her--though she can relent and submit, she doesn't like to, not even a little bit. In fact, she almost called off her wedding because she refused to submit to approval from a woman who could accept or deny her. However, she was able to face this, and let go of the pride, after a long talk with an old friend. Powers/Abilities CANON: Nothing supernatural. She is an expert in hand-to-hand combat, shown to be capable of fighting multiple Klingons at once and holding her own. Joined Trill can access memories and abilities from former hosts just like she can remember things that Jadzia herself has done--while she is not a musical genius, she can play music thanks to a former host. While not an engineer, a couple of her former hosts were very capable in such areas, and so she has such skills, but often to a lesser degree. Her own technological background is sound; she was a science officer, but often helped with both engineering tasks and operations tasks, and that experience coupled with the former hosts makes her capable of creating highly sophisticated programming and designing advanced technology, as well as creating pioneering new methods for the use of existing technology, in her world. She is also the holder of advanced degrees in exobiology and zoology, as well as astrophysics.

RP Sample [Third Person]: Jadzia crossed her arms, ducking her head and turning to the side as a couple of military men ducked into the cafeteria, but it soon became clear they were off duty, which was just fine with her. She stepped forward mechanically, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. No one had really managed to get a good look at her, that she felt confidant of, certainly none of the soldiers who’d been around. Still, she had to be careful, because, well, even if she couldn’t understand all of it, this place was terribly biased about what actions could and could not be done by those living within the walls, in as arbitrary and hypocritical a way as possible. Grabbing a tray, she moved forward again, sighing softly. Even if she was as jumpy as schoolgirl who snuck out of school for the day, it wasn’t hard to decide that the night had been worth it ( ... )

AND BACK!

The tricorder can record, but expect short clips and really warped sound clips and lots of static. So as for something that's reliable in maintaining records and spying on scientists and military? Not so reliable.

But a writing challenge? very awesome!
