I'll draw two things tomorrow because I'm tired today and wanted to do this instead. I spent most of yesterday making things to eat, and for some reason, decided to share them with you. They are both delicious AND healthy!

I like that idea for the butternut squash. I use a slightly different method for acorn squash or pumpkin.

I've never tried pumpkin, because I've always wondered how you get enough of the fleshy stuff to actually make it worthwhile to cook. I'm too used to just carving them up for Halloween!

I have never bought a can of pumpkin in my life - I always make my pies from the real thing, and there's plenty of flesh on a pumpkin - enough, usually, for 3-5 pies, depending on the size of the pumpkin. It tastes soooo good...

This seems much better than my Big Ass Kitchen Knife Lean My Whole F***ing Weight On It And Curse technique. Which often has the mid-stage where the knife is lodged deeply inside the squash and refuses to budge.

Yeah, that method was my mother and I, until one day my aunt was like 'why do you do it like THAT!?' and schooled us. This method makes you love squash even more, because now it's not a love/hate relationship. I get giddy at the market when squash is back in season.

Yesssss I only recently learned the trick with the water in the dish and the stabbing. What I usually do with butternut anyway is cut it in half when it's raw (difficult but not impossible) and brush the meat with butter and maple syrup, then bake. mmmmmm.

I cannot freaking wait for your vegetable stock homg. For some reason veg stock is like - mystical to me.

Sometimes I get lucky and they sell them already cut in half. The next time I snag one of those I'll try that maple syrup thing, because that sounds WONDERFUL.

I'll work on getting that up tonight! I have a cookbook with 100 recipes based on that stock, and holy cow they're all winners.
