It's like I have been telling people, religion was the main reason most people voted for Bush. That just goes to show you how much power religion has in this country.
I have no problem with people being religious, but basing your vote solely on religion is idiotic in my opinion.
eh, maybe you don't really need to just be convinced of that. after all, i believe in God, but i STILL don't think it's ok to make that the only reason for who you vote for. i'm actually REALLY angry about that, but well, i already ranted about that in my own journal...
The sad thing is I've actually always wanted to believe. However believer or not, I agree with you that it is no reason to vote for someone...or at least not the sole reason.
Beyond that having Bush in office 4 more years actually scares me, not really for myself but it scares me putting my kids futures in partially in his hands.
I 100% agree with u on that one. Be religious all you want, have a big religious cake walk for all I care but don't vote for a president solely because of it.
Religion just has never been my cup of tea. Maybe someday it will be, I went to church as a kid but it neer did much for me once I began to think for myself.
It's not a good sole reason to vote for a candidate. Read my rants and you will know religion is not why I voted for Bush, but I will defend religion if anyone bags on it.
I can't give you a reason to believe...it's a belief, you just...believe. I was baptised Roman Catholic, brough up Roman Catholic, and I...just believe. Whether it is true or not, it's nice to know that no matter what you have a higher being to give you hope and inspiration in life.

And even though you admit there may be no god and there is no proof of a god you still look to your god for answers.
To me it's the same as believing in the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus but I don't see anyone voting for the Tooth Fairy candidate.
